By Vespa rider from Vancouver, WA on 09/14/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Durable, Stylish, Versatile Best Uses: Casual Wear, Travel Describe Yourself: Classic Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This was one of the most increadable coats I have ever put on. It is extremely warm, the inside is very soft. I bought this coat to wear when I ride my Vespa around town in the fall and winter months, sadly, the shoulders are too big and I have to return it. This coat is true to it's size, another review said it was small, so that is why I ordered a size up... Order you true size. I would highly recomend this caot to anyone who lives in colder areas. It is amazing!
great for rain, cold, wind By Arcadia from San Francisco on 05/12/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable Describe Yourself: Comfort-oriented Chest Size: Feels true to size Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this last November to take with me on a tour of the Scottish highlands, and it was perfect: everyone else on the tour was soaked and cold, but this jacket kept me dry and warm, even in 60 mph winds and driving rain. As some reviewers have noted, it's cut straight up and down, and can be tight across the rear, but I wear a medium and bought a medium and didn't have a problem layering it over sweaters and a fleece pullover. The hood also works well against the rain, especially with the little brim. The jacket also served me well in the rainy San Francisco winter season, although it's not as fashionable as people tend to dress out here. But I'm more interested in staying warm and dry, than in being fashionable here in the rainy season (I'll save my black leather for dry days).
By Kate from Las Vegas NV on 04/27/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Stylish, Versatile Describe Yourself: Classic, Comfort-oriented, High-end shopper Chest Size: Feels true to size Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a beautiful, medium-weight jacket made in the classic Barbour tradition. I wanted to purchase a longer length/detachable hood jacket for safari game drives in the cool AM/PM hours. I haven't worn it yet, but think it will be perfect. Interior torso is lined with soft, dark brown fleece and sleeves are lightly quilted inside for ease of entry and flexibility. Exterior shell feels luxurious and details in dark brown give it a stylish appeal in an 'Out of Africa' sort of way.
Women with longer-than-average arms may find the sleeve length a bit short, but for me, the proportion was correct.
By arista159 from CT on 04/12/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Versatile Best Uses: Casual Wear, Rainy weather, Travel Describe Yourself: Comfort-oriented, High quality products, Stylish Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a very well-made jacket; looks extremely durable and well-suited for damp rainy weather which is what I purchased it for. The jacket is very warm and could be comfortable at different temperatures. I don't think one needs a lot of layering under this jacket. It does run a little big so if I were to purchase it again I would get a size smaller for this particular cut. Unfortunately I had to return it due to the fact that the color did not look good on me at all. It might look good on someone else.
Not for the full figured woman By stier librarian from upstate NY on 01/06/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable Best Uses: Casual Wear, Very warm yet not bulky Describe Yourself: Classic, Comfort-oriented, Practical, Stylish Chest Size: Feels too small Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I liked this parka -- it is very nicely made and a great deal at the price. Unfortunately it seemed to be designed for someone who is not very big in the bust or hips, too straight a cut for me.
Lightweight, soft, and comfy. It runs a little roomy so don't be afraid to order your true size if you still want to be able to wear something underneath. This is an extremely comfy, lightweight and cute jacket-- and details, details, details! I love Barbour from now until forever.
By Ramblin' Travelin' Mom from Goldsboro, NC, USA on 11/08/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Stylish, Versatile Cons: None identified as of yet Best Uses: Casual Wear, Office, Travel Describe Yourself: Classic, Comfort-oriented, Practical Chest Size: Feels too small Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I absolutely love this coat! I did have to return/reorder, to get a size larger than I normally wear, but it was certainly worth the wait! This coat is light enough to travel with, yet designed to be wind resistant, and waterproof. I especially like the zippered pockets, and the inner pockets. Around my home here in NC, we don't get too much extremely cold weather, but we do have some. I bought this coat to carry with me when I visit my daughter in England at Christmas, and we're going to Garmisch, Germany for the Christmas holiday. This coat will travel well for that, and be warm enough, and wind proof enough, when coupled with some layered sweaters underneath. I am truly delighted with my purchase!
