During the summer months, the temperature is easily near 100, with the altitude around 5,500 feet - you need protection. This hat has made a remarkable difference, keeping the sun off of my neck, not to mention the biting flies. Great product, I will repurchase.

Sailors are riggers so I fixed mine with razor sharp shears. Lose the strap and shade. If I wanted that junk I'd just buy a hat with a brim. You could offer them as velcro-on extras and some people would probably pay extra for them.
