sturdy waterproof and warm By The Hun from Pittsburgh, PA on 01/28/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Durable, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: All Weather Conditions, Mixed Terrain, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I generally need a hard-to-find 11, so was happy to feel these fit fine at 10-1/2. Although still new, these seem really well-built (tough, w/good foot support and protective toe bumpers), and so far have had a comfortable break-in. I'll use them hiking, but also around town on bad weather days. I followed manfr's recommendation and waterproofed them right away (w/silicone spray). Blue is a nice bonus.
By Hikerbug from Columbus, OH on 12/03/2008 Pros: Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Stabilizes Foot Cons: Not very shock absorbent Best Uses: All Weather Conditions, Everyday, Grass, Mixed Terrain, Paved Trails Describe Yourself: Gym Rat, Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The sizes obviously do run large. I find these shoes very comfortable, with lots of toe room. The suede is sort of dressy, not sure I would test the water resistance. I am happy with them for everyday use, although I would choose a more supportive shoe for serious hikes.
nice shoes but truly too small toebox. By beartooth bear from red lodge, montana on 11/23/2008 Best Uses: All Weather Conditions, Mixed Terrain, Muddy Conditions, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker, Trail Jogger Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: i'd read the reviews regarding size so i made sure i gave myself some leeway and opted for the larger size. unfortunately, as some of the previous reviews indicated, the toe box on these is unusually small and the heel unusually ample. the length was right-on. despite being a lowa fan, i had to return these shoes because of the disproportionate fit.
By Nikki from Sacramento, CA on 09/15/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable Best Uses: Cold weather, Day hikes, Everyday Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have terrible knees & these shoes provide support I need. Great shoes! I love them!
By candice from maryland on 07/13/2008 Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels full size too big Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I was excited to buy these shoes-great looking at a great price. The reviews were good except they said the shoe ran large and suggested buying a half size down so I did that. But they are still way too big. [...] But it's ridiculous that I would need a full size down (can't even be sure the full size down would fit since I couldn't try them-even the half size down was enormous). Too bad. Get a full size down unless you are wearing major thick socks.
NICE... but sending back--TOO BIG! By Connie from Westerville, Ohio on 06/25/2008 Sizing: Feels full size too big Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: In the right size, I would refer to a friend... they are made nicely.
By Lowa queen from North Carolina on 04/30/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Non-slip sole, Stable Cons: Insoles wear quickly Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are great shoes. I get a lot of compliments on them. This is my third pair in three years. I wear them almost everyday. They stand up to the long days on my feet in retail. I do replace the insoles several times during a year.
By Marie from Danbury, CT on 04/26/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Everyday Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great shoe: stable, comfortable, great traction.
Very nice looking too. A bit too wide in heel area for me, however, this can be remedied with thicker socks. Great buy!
By plains2sea2mtn from Montana on 04/23/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold weather, Day hikes, Everyday, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels full size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Nice roomy toe box, heel is wide for me, but I can snug these down comfortably with the lacing system. I found that Lowas run on the large side, so I just order 1 size smaller.
By Rocky Mountain Spirit from Colorado Springs, CO on 04/12/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Stable Cons: Not Water Resistant, Sole tends to slip Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels half size too big Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great shoe for short hikes (10 miles or less) or when wearing a light pack. Sole tends to slip on slick rock or wet surfaces.
