By sunnyd from Maryland on 04/10/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight Cons: Not enough arch support Best Uses: Everyday wear, Pavement, Walking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is the second pair of Brooks Ariel that I have purchased and while a great shoe (the stability is perfect), the arch support lacks a bit. Luckily, I use an insert so it's still a great shoe!

By HEALTH1st from Auburn, AL on 04/06/2009 Pros: Absorbs Shock, Attractive Design, Comfortable, Durable, Flexible, Lightweight Best Uses: Endurance Training, Pavement, Running, Walking Describe Yourself: Gym Rat Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: For the most part, I love this shoe and I'm already seeing an improvement in my plantar fascitis and shin splints. I also feel lighter on my feet and this shoe definitely cushions well! The only con is that my foot slides easily out of the heel - not all the way, but enough that might cause blisters. Perhaps the heels too low. The shoe laces could be longer because the laces can't be tied very much ... not much give but maybe that's because it's meant to control the foot.
Fabulous shoes for flatfooters By wl110 from New York, NY on 03/22/2009 Pros: Absorbs Shock, Attractive Design, Comfortable, Durable Best Uses: Endurance Training, Pavement, Running, Walking Describe Yourself: Gym Rat Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've been a Brooks Ariel devotee for almost a decade now. I have extremely flat feet (running shoe salespeople have described me as having "no arches") and used to be plagued by knee pain, shin splints, and bunions from running and walking around in shoes that aren't sufficiently supportive. Switching to a heavy-duty motion control shoe has helped a lot. The only drawbacks for me are (1) motion control shoes generally look clunky rather than sleek because they have a very hefty sole and a straight last, and (2) Brooks Ariels tend to come in very limited colors, most of which I don't like (they tend to be predominantly white). That said, I LOVE the green and silver of these Ariels, and will definitely stock up!
