By Walkin Fool from Sonora, CA on 04/11/2009 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In, Durable, Shock-Absorbent, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: Everyday, Mixed Terrain, Paved Trails Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: A very well constructed shoe, they have an extraordinarily comfortable foot bed; quite roomy in the heel and ankle.
By Becky from Bennington, VT on 04/01/2009 Pros: Durable, Great Traction Best Uses: Grass, Mixed Terrain Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These seem like very durable and well-made day hikers. The soles are stiff and they seem a little big, even with wool hiking socks. They rub the heels. I do have narrow feet, and this has been a problem with other hiking boots. I've ordered a 1/2 size smaller, I am betting those will be a bit more comfortable. Overall, they seem like good, durable day hikers.

By Annie from Rural New Mexico on 01/22/2009 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In, Durable, Great Traction, Shock-Absorbent, Stabilizes Foot Cons: Slightly wide in the heel Best Uses: Everyday, Mixed Terrain, Muddy Conditions, Paved Trails, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I wear "hikers" all day every day and these are really nice - best with a somewhat heavy sock.
Great fit for narrow feet By Lissa the Lowa lover from Minnesota on 01/11/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Dries Quickly, Durable, Great Traction, Shock-Absorbent, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: All Weather Conditions Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These shoes fit great and are comfortable right out of the box. I loved my previous pair of Lowa's and wore them everywhere. I am happy to have found a new pretty pair as my others are looking beat up (still good though). My feet are on the narrow side and it is difficult to find hiking shoes with a good fit. But these are excellent.
By dos cactus from Tucson, Arizona on 12/30/2008 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In, Durable, Great Traction, Shock-Absorbent Cons: Tongue juts up too much Best Uses: Everyday, Mixed Terrain, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Avid runnerhiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I own three pairs of Lowa's; the Renegade GTX Lo (narrow) and the Renegade GTX Mid (narrow) are my primary hiking boots. I bought the Lowa Tempest as an all-around hiking/walking/everyday shoe because I of my experience with my first pair of Lowa's, the Renegade GTX Mid hiker. In my experience Lowa's are comfortable right out of the box, extremely durable, and provide excellent traction and comfort on the trail even in the desert heat. The main problem I have is that my heels are extremely narrow and neither the Renegade GTX Lo hiker (narrow) or the Tempest are narrow enough in the heel. The Tempest, though it is a B width is narrow enough in the toe box however so if you have a true B width foot the toe box may be too tight. They are also not extremely flexible which I personally like but may not suit everyone. The one thing I do not like about the Tempest is the tongue which seems to be too long and sticks out quite a bit. I'm going to have this fixed because otherwise they are great all around shoes.
I had high expectations for these shoes. By Chris from Oxford, MS on 12/01/2008 Describe Yourself: Gym Rat Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I ordered a half size larger and they were still too short. If you need a large toe box, these are not the shoes for you.

It's not quite as attractive as it appears in the pictures. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.
