good quality shoe for price By short and stocky from northwest on 04/05/2009 Pros: Durable, Lightweight Describe Yourself: Comfort Driven Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Caveat: I have a very wide foot and rarely find shoes that fit. I am a "true" 5E, but even Dunham's 6E isn't wide enough.
Like many mass-produced shoemakers, they "widen" their shoes by adding extra material to the uppers to compensate for the industry standard "widest" last (3E/4E) -- a common problem I see with the New Balance SL-2 lasts. I'm assuming these are SL-2. I compromised with these shoes and took the widest they offer and then "broke" the shoe until the uppers stretched out... the last is still narrow -for me- and the box isn't wide enough. The leather uppers help in "molding" the shoe to fit. Got them wet to shape more to my foot....visual: my feet "roll" over the sides of the last... still, a very sporty shoe! good sale price
recommended with reservations: people with very WIDE feet use caution

By Bill from St Augustine, FL on 06/23/2008 Pros: Breathes Well, Comfortable, GOOD SUPPORT Best Uses: Boating, Casual Wear Describe Yourself: Conservative, Stylish, Traditional Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I first ordered an 11 6e. My usual size is 11 EEE. Shoe was long. I returned it for a 10 1/2 6e. That worked, but buying shoes by mail can be hit or miss until you get some experience with the maker.
By Dan a working educator man from Palos Verdes, CA on 05/29/2008 Pros: Breathes Well, Comfortable, Durable, Stable Best Uses: Business Casual, Casual Wear, Semi-formal, Travel Describe Yourself: Alternative, Casual, Conservative, Stylish Sizing: Feels half size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: nice-looking shoes from dunham. i bought them because they have 4E and are part of New Balance (whose running shoes I like). they're light, decent cushioning, good comfort and support, and stylish. i would recommend these to people who want comfortable, well-designed, good-looking boat shoes. the brown color is quite brown/sepia but grows on you over time -- i'd also like the light tan color. i would buy dunham again. to make the shoe even better, it would be nice if it had the comfort of a Nike athletic shoe...but I think that's asking too much. compared to my other dressy casual shoes (Rockport oxfords, fo r example) these are very comfortable.
