I LOVE THESE SHOES WITH NO GORETEX! By Mike the Hiker from Gettysburg on 03/05/2008 Pros: Breathes Well, Comfortable, Durable Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I do a lot of hiking with my dogs. These shoes hold up great on the AT with 25 pound pack. Great ankle support and no blister issues. I like the cheaper version WITHOUT the Goretex. My feet stay drier and if it is REALLY wet out there your feet will get wet with or without Goretex. These are a great bargain and you will not be disappointed.

By hwstock from Las Vegas, NV on 12/15/2007 Pros: Comfortable, Good grip sticky rubber, Stable Cons: Seams break unless sealed Best Uses: rock scrambling Describe Yourself: Outdoorsy hard on boots Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These two pairs are my 7th and 8th. I've run in these, done class 5, etc. Our local terrain (siliceous limestone) is very hard on boots, and I always seal the seams with urethane to keep cut threads from unraveling.
I found Vasque Borneos to be more comfortable, especially for trail running -- but also more fragile. The Borneos are no longer made, and are far more of a pain to put on or take off.

They are comfortable and sure-footed. Great shoes!
