Comfort & Function That's Not Ugly By needtrees from Teton Valley, ID on 09/29/2009 Pros: Absorbs Shock, Breathable, Comfortable, Good Traction, Lightweight, Stable Best Uses: Scrambling, Trails Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels full size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Took a little breaking in and I had to use moleskin on my heels, but no big deal. I ordered 1/2 size larger than normal and I wish I had gone a full size larger. I like the fact that this shoe is relatively stiff - provides a good, solid platform on rock. Grip is fantastic in dry conditions. They stick like glue and inspire confidence. I haven't tried them in wet conditions yet. I haven't had them long enough to comment on how well they'll last. My brother has the men's version and has worn them almost daily for over a year. He loves them and they have held up exceptionally well, especially considering that he wears them for everything from hiking to walking on pavement to mowing the lawn.
By comfort queen from west greenwich, RI on 09/08/2009 Pros: Absorbs Shock, Breathable, Comfortable, Good Traction, Great support, Stable Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I was looking for a walking shoe that would give my ankles the support they need. All my other walking shoes have been lacking support. But when I got these I was so happy with the stability that they offer. I put my orthotics in them as well.and they feel great. Excellent quality and workmanship.

By M.W. from Mt Vernon, WA on 08/10/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Flexible, Good Traction, Lightweight, Stable Best Uses: Pavement, Track, Trails Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels full size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These shoes are very comfortable and light weight.
Order 1/2 to full size bigger than normal. I usually wear a 6.5 and ordered a 7.5 and am so happy I did. It is a little big, but with hiking socks and maybe some foot swell they are perfect.
Traction is amazing for bouldering and wet trails.
By Emily from Reno-Tahoe on 08/03/2009 Pros: Good Traction, Stable Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These grip really well and although I was a bit skeptical about the seemingly high ankle, it's actually great for ankle support. I'm used to well ventilated trail running shoes so this fully enclosed shoe took my naturally hot feet a bit of getting used to, but not enough that I'd ever think about returning them. At least with these shoes I never get any pebbles or dust/sand in them. The best part about these shoes: I can now keep up just fine with my mountain goat of a husband when approaching a climb or rock hopping! (He has the Scarpa approach shoes and he's jealous of mine!)
Comfortable. Requires minimal break in By BMW from Orange, VA on 08/03/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Good Traction Describe Yourself: Gym Rat Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great shoes for short hikes.
By KP from Montana on 07/22/2009 Pros: Absorbs Shock, Attractive design, Good Traction, Lightweight, Stable Cons: Blisters on second wear, Slight rub high on heel Best Uses: Pavement, Trails, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've only worn the shoes twice, the second time on a hike that was probably too long for "breaking" them in, ended up with blisters low on the heels. Will continue to wear them to see if this continues to be a problem. Considering inserts to possibly raise the foot bed slightly (and provide more cushioning). Abrasion resistant toe perfect for trails with rocks, roots and climbing. Love the shape, color and feel of the shoe. Definitely ordered a half size larger (normally wear an 8.5 but the 9 is perfect).
Great for brushy or rocky trails By pikabike from The crazy foothills, CO on 06/01/2009 Pros: Abrasion-resistant, Absorbs Shock, Closely trimmed outsole, Comfortable, Good Traction, Lightweight Best Uses: Dirt roads and jeep trail, Off-trail hiking, Trails Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've owned 2 pairs of these shoes and am looking for my 3rd set now. There are very few other lightweight hiking shoes that do NOT have fabric uppers, which I find too delicate. Any non-leather uppers in my shoes have always been easily destroyed even with occasional brushy, thorny, or rocky hikes. It's full leather (or synthetic leather) for me; nothing else lasts. And I LOVE the rubber guard around the front half of the shoes.
My daily hikes from home are on steep dirt roads, and trail hikes are on all kinds of surfaces. These shoes have served me extremely well. I only wish the outsoles would last longer...but then they would have to be a harder rubber, which means the traction would not be as good.
A bonus is that when I want to ride my mtn bike and wear "regular shoes" instead of cleated ones, these shoes are trim enough and stiff-soled enough for that purpose. They fit into toeclips just fine.
