Adjustable to the foot - comfy! By Sneaker Lover from Virginia on 05/01/2009 Pros: Breathes Well, Comfortable, Durable, Good Arch Support, Lightweight Best Uses: At The Beach, Casual Wear, Going Out, Travel Describe Yourself: Alternative, Casual, Conservative Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: At first he wondered if they were not manly enough, but once he tried them on he liked the look and best of all the fit. We leave on vacation soon so that will be the real test. Does he pack them and then if he does, will he choose to wear them!
By JeepGirl from Jackson, CA on 04/30/2009 Pros: Breathes Well, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Stylish Best Uses: At The Beach, Casual Wear, Going Out, On the Lake, Travel Describe Yourself: Casual, Conservative Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: My husband absolutely loves these sandals. I got him a pair last year and he's worn them everywhere -- from going to town to going fishing to going camping. He requested that we get another pair for him "just in case" while they are still available.
Great Sandals, Buy 'em While They Last! By Mountain Man Dan from Houghton, MI on 04/26/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Good Arch Support, Lightweight, Stylish Best Uses: At The Beach, Casual Wear, Going Out, Travel Describe Yourself: Alternative Sizing: Feels half size too big Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: these sandals are great! bought them ~2 months ago and i think i have worn them every day since then (even on sub=freezing days...) they are comfy and fit snugly to my feet.
the footbed is weird at first (it is quite narrow) and i had to order a full size below my normal shoe size (i normally wear 11, but even a 10 is almost too big) but once you get used to it (which takes about 2 minutes) these things are super comfy! i have already gone on several hikes waterfall hunting, and plan on beating the tar out of them all summer and fall, because i know they can take it. GREAT BUY!
By TinyB from St Paul, MN on 04/22/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Good Arch Support, Lightweight Best Uses: Casual Wear, Travel Describe Yourself: Alternative, Casual Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I usually wear a wide width, but these were only available in a Medium, and, hey, they're sandals, so I can just let the strap out. With the straps all the way out they are a comfortable fit.
By climberchuck from charlottesville, va on 04/20/2009 Pros: Breathes Well, Comfortable, Lightweight, Stylish Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: So far I've only worn them around and outside the house, but they feel great. I plan to do some hiking in them soon.
We already duplicated our order! By Dorisland from bernville, Pa. on 04/20/2009 Pros: Breathes Well, Comfortable, Durable, Good Arch Support, Lightweight, Stylish Best Uses: At The Beach, Casual Wear, Going Out, Travel Describe Yourself: Alternative, Casual Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: We first bought this style in both men and women's (Alps-then) about 20 years ago on St. John,USVI and loved it, but were never able to find it again (never thought of 'online'! DUH!). In fact, I still have mine (women's), and my boyfriend's wore out after being resoled--about 18 years of heavier usage. And so, we were thrilled to find it on your sight--luckily- although in Closeout! Because of that, after the first order fit so well, we ordered a second pair each, for future use. Now, if this new pair fares as well as the originals, we should be set in comfort well into our old age![...]
Not the orig Alp from the 70's, but... By esteve from NY,NY on 04/19/2009 Pros: Breathes Well, Comfortable, Good Arch Support, Lightweight, Stylish Best Uses: At The Beach, Casual Wear, Travel Describe Yourself: Alternative, Casual Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The Alp strap system is the best minimal way to hold a sole to your foot ever designed. The ORIGNAL Alp from the 70's was basically a piece of truck tire with the strap system. I still have mine and wear them often. Teva bought-out the Alps company -- their only real competition at the time -- in the mid 70's and immediately shut it down. I always thought how dumb they were for not contuinug to make them. I never understood why they did not put this fantastic strap design on a high-tech footbed; they would have the best footwear ever. Well, lo and behold they did -- 30 years later!!. Yes, the toe straps are too short, and yes, the last is too narrow in the toe box. But if you adjust the straps to fit, you can hike almost anything with these. They hold your foot like no sandel ever and weigh next to nothing. But now it looks like they discontunued them again. Maybe in another 30 years they will try again and that time will get it more perfect yet. (More perfect would include the orignal heal stap configuration: those stoner rafting guides who started Alps got it right in 1970) Either way, I expect to still have both my old and new Alps in another 30 years. (well maybe not the new ones; there is more to go wrong and wear out on them then the old ones.)

Acceptable hybrid between Alps and Tevas. Footbed easy to clean.
Good for walking about at the crag By R from Red River Gorge, Kentucky on 04/06/2009 Pros: Breathes Well, Comfortable, Durable, Good Arch Support, Lightweight Best Uses: At The Beach, Casual Wear, Going Out, Travel Sizing: Feels half size too big Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Good for in between climbs. Easy on off with the plastic clack, comfortable once you get them adjusted to your liking but probably not the best for a long (1-2 mile or more) hike up-hill / down-hill on rough terrain, especially if with heavy backpack. Also, not the sexiest sandal out there, but for [$] cant beat them.
