Good shoes, my second pairs By BlueJay from Bay Area, CA on 10/11/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Shock-Absorbent, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: All Weather Conditions, Grass, Mixed Terrain, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker, Trail Jogger Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is my second pairs because I like the support so much. Most people said, it was stiff, but I am used to wearing running shoes, and it is comparable -- not stiffer. Good stability. I feel my back is staighter. This shoes is great for rocky terrain, but I don't think it is for gym/aerobic because it is not as flexible to do stretch/bend, etc. But if you are a trail jogger, a great pair of shoes. I wouldn't use for jogging on paved road. As for wear, I don't know yet -- so far, it is holding up well.

stepping on it to comfort By Fay ADL trainer from SW Missouri on 09/11/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Shock-Absorbent, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: Everyday, Grass, Mixed Terrain, Wlking all day on concret Describe Yourself: COTA, Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Working in a nursing home, on my feet 6-8 hours. Not to mention long concrete hallways, back and forth. My feet, shins, and legs are NOT tired at the end of the day. Just wish there was just a bit more arch, other than that...need to purchase a couple more pair to replace these when they wear out.

Would like a larger arch support for my plantar fascitis, but good fit and comfy from the get-go. Use them for intense cardio workouts. Good all-around trainer.

Review update--after the first month By Boulder Hiker Lady from Boulder CO on 09/01/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Stabilizes Foot Cons: Not Durable/Wears Easily Best Uses: Everyday, Mixed Terrain, Paved Trails Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I reviewed these shoes soon after I bought them and only one month later need to update the review due to a small durability problem. I took these shoes with me on a backpack trip and used them as my "around the campsite shoes." After a couple of days of wood gathering and puttering around the campsite, the shoes showed significant wear with the rubber bumpers at the front of the shoes becoming unglued on both shoes. I will fix them with some glue, but they should not be breaking down so quickly after only a month of light backcountry use. Given that problem, I still think the shoes were a good value but recommend them only for light around town use or on groomed trails.

A Good Shoe With Some Quirks By Ally from Michigan's Upper Peninsula on 08/18/2009 Pros: Breathable, Dries Quickly, Featherlight, Great Traction, Heel is well cushioned Cons: Narrow toe box, Wide heel pocket Best Uses: Everyday, Mixed Terrain, Paved Trails, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Biker, Competitive Athlete, Recreational Walker/Hiker, Skier, Traveler Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought these shoes for an upcoming trip to Italy. We will be walking and hiking and I need stability and cushioning. The shoes run about a half size larger than most. I wear a 4.5 and the smallest is a 5 which I ordered. Even when inserting a full length orthotic, they are a little long and I can't wear thick socks because of the narrow toe. I wore them on a five mile walk and got a blister on my little toe so for the last few days I have been stretching the toe areas with shoe stretchers. The decorative seams in the toe area are a poor design. With the already narrow toe, they contribute to friction and discomfort. The narrow toe box is offset by a very wide heel pocket so the laces need to be snug on top. If you can get around these 2 poor features, and you have orthotics or don't need good arch support, these shoes might work for you. On a positive note, they are lightweight and well cushioned in the heel. The lugs are well suited to rough terrain so they will do well on rocky trails. Compared to the many pairs of other brands I have ordered in the past, particularly Saucony tennis shoes and other Vasque hiking boots, these have a quirky fit. Hopefully they will break in more or I can get the toes stretched at a shoe repair shop. Do not order them if you need toe room.
