Very comfortable and good quality By Tammy from Anthem, AZ on 12/10/2008 Cons: Slightly Funky looking Best Uses: Indoor, Long Climbs, Outdoor Describe Yourself: Avid Climber Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Scarpa has always been my climbing shoe of choice. Seems like with any other manufacturers there are always adjustments to make but Scarpa fits my foot perfectly. They are great for indoor climbing or outdoors all day long. No need to keep taking your shoes off because your feet hurt so much. They have a different appearance around the sole than typical climbing shoes and at first glance look more like approach shoes. I love them and plan to order another pair!!
By helloyello from Santa Barbara, CA on 12/07/2008 Describe Yourself: Getting Started Sizing: Feels full size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I had to sent it in 3 times to get bigger ones, and the customer servise was not much help inn telling how much bigger each size was. Now I have shoes that are 2 whole numbers bigger than my normal shoes and I can use them but still would need a bit bigger (but just to fed up with, sending them back and forth so I will just use them as they are). Otherwise they are good.
By Karl from San Francisco, CA on 11/20/2008 Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels full size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Thought I'd pick these up because of the deal price, not a deal because there is no way they are accurate on size. Have compared side to side with even other shoes made by SCARPA, and they do not come close. Full size too small is an understatement. Unless you want to gamble and see a size at least two sizes larger than what you normally wear, I would steer clear of this model.
Nice looking shoe, runs way too small By Eggy from Rochester, NY on 11/12/2008 Describe Yourself: Getting Started Sizing: Feels full size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Runs 1.5 sizes too small on euro scale. Had to return it. Would have gotten it in the proper size, but none were available.
2nd pair as great as the first By ClimberGirl from East Coast on 11/12/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Rugged, Supportive, Versatile Best Uses: Indoor, Long Climbs, Outdoor Describe Yourself: Avid Climber Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is my second pair of Scarpa Marathons because they are so great. I have chronic foot pain and these stiff and supportive shoes allow me to climb in relative comfort. I've tried on countless shoes with disappointment and I'm so happy to have found these. They edge great and are sticky enough, although not the best shoes ever for smearing. They are great for trad routes, especially multipitch climbs, although I wear them for almost every type of climbing.
I was fortunate to try some on in a store to find my correct size, which was about a half size larger than I expected, trying to size for a snug but comfortable fit. I've used my first pair just over a year and was happy to get the second pair at such a great price.
As people mention, the shoes do turn your feet yellow, but I don't mind, although my feet don't get very sweaty. The fit stays true as they don't stretch out much, yet they due conform somewhat to your feet over time. The only vice I have with the shoes is the laces. Although they are nice and easy to tighten, the laces can easily become untied as they are slippery. I take care knotting them now, but still I've had a few occasions while climbing where the laces became untied without me realizing it. One foot stepped on the laces of the other shoe and I couldn't lift that foot... could be precarious. I probably could trim the laces as I have a lot of excess.
All in all, I love these shoes.

By no nick name from cape cod on 07/23/2008 Cons: More like 3 sizes too sm Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels full size too small Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I sent it back and requested another way larger.
It was laughable how small they were and seemed like a mistake.
By Cabernet from Braintree, MA on 07/15/2008 Describe Yourself: Getting Started Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I'm just getting into climbing and am purchasing my first pair of shoes. Unfortunately, these shoes don't fit, so I can't say much about how they work or how to use them. But I'll mention sizing, because this is what I was trying to find when I was ordering.
I wear a size 8.5-9 (usually 39 European) in women's street shoes. I ordered a size 39 in the Scarpa Marathons, but they're too small - mostly in the big toe area. I think a 40 would probably fit me best. The heel also comes up a bit higher than I think I'd like, so I'm not sure they'd fit right if they were the right size. For comparison, I ordered a 39.5 in the Scarpa Tifosi and they were probably a whole size too small. If you're trying to compare to sizes in other brands: a Montrail Splitter 40 (womens) fit perfectly and a Five Ten Anasazi 8.5 (41.5) was too small in the toe (I think a 42 would have done it).
Scarpa shoes are made in Italy and they seem like they're very high quality. (For reference, Five Ten is made in USA and the Montrails are made in China - boo). I would be a little worried about having my feet stained yellow, but I guess if the shoes are comfortable it's worth it.
By Toni from Fort Collins, CO on 06/25/2008 Cons: 3 sizes under normal Best Uses: Never able to wear Describe Yourself: Getting Started Sizing: Feels full size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I first ordered a size 9 1/2 and then tried a size 11 1/2 and they were still too small. [...] I think this is not acceptable and on the sight there should be a warning for people purchasing about the size difference!
