By runnergirl from Fort Collins, CO on 10/30/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction Best Uses: Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Gym Rat, Trail Jogger Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: very comfortable shoes...did great on the trail.
By Ern from Atlanta GA on 10/21/2009 Cons: Not flexible, Poor Cushioning Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I wore these on an hour walk through the city. The soles were so firm that my feet were cramping by the end... not something that usually happens with new athletic shoes. These don't provide much arch support either. Perhaps these would be great if broken in, but for my purposes, I am looking for a really comfortable shoe for daily walks and occasional hikes. Great style, though, I was bummed to have to return them.
By Hiker Girl from Tucson, AZ on 09/29/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Durable, Great Traction Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Took these on a 6 mile hike out of the box and they were so comfortable.
By L.L. Heim. from Pullman, WA on 08/05/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Shock-Absorbent, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: Mixed Terrain, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: My shoes arrived the day before I left for a 6 day hiking trip at Mt. Rainier. I have a very narrow heel, a high arch, and overpronate. Despite lack of break in time and lots of miles on steep trails these shoes were totally comfortable and supportive with no hot spots.
By Phishy Mountain Runner.... from Blue Ridge Mountains, VA on 06/28/2009 Pros: Comfortable/No Break-In, Durable, Great Traction, Shock-Absorbent, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: Mixed Terrain, Muddy Conditions, Rocky/Unstable Terrain, VERY technical trails Describe Yourself: Trail Runner, Ultramarathoner Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I frequently run Ultramarathons (not a casual athlete) and this is a fantastic shoe. I wore these during the Highlands Sky 40 miler last weekend and was absolutely amazed at the way these shoes preformed. They are comfortable and supportive over VERY technical trail, yet you do not feel as though you have on a very heavy shoe. I usually wear Montrail Continental Divides and this shoe seems to have a lower profile, yet more stability in the sole. I am also a neutral runner who wears a cushioned shoe (i am a forefoot striker, so cushioned shoes are key) and these shoes deliver the comfort. The only drawback is that they are slow to dry, so if you wear them....remember extra socks in your drop bag. Great shoe, will buy another pair. By trail runner from Elkin, NC on 06/09/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: Mixed Terrain, Muddy Conditions, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Describe Yourself: Competitive Athlete, Trail Jogger Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I love these shoes! Wore them for the first time last weekend on a 28 mile run, they supported my feet better than any other trail shoes I have ever tried. And no blisters! I just bought 2 more pairs because this style has been discontinued :(
good shoe, minor complaints By scout from utah on 04/06/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Great Traction, Stabilizes Foot Describe Yourself: Trail Jogger Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These shoes are pretty stiff for running. I've only used them a few times, so they may break in to be more flexible on trails. They're lightweight & have good arch support, great traction.
By noriko n from los angeles, ca on 04/04/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction Cons: Not Durable/Wears Easily Best Uses: Mixed Terrain, Rocky/Unstable Terrain Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I picked up a pair of these at Boulder Running Company a few years ago to use as trail running/approach shoes. I have been using my Montrail Hardrocks for this purpose for quite some time. Although quite comfortable, the rubber toe rand wore off quickly, as did the fabric around the toes. I would not purchase another pair.
By Flatfoot in Seattle from Seattle WA on 03/10/2009 Pros: Great Traction, Stabilizes Foot Best Uses: All Weather Conditions, Grass, Mixed Terrain, Muddy Conditions Describe Yourself: Recreational Walker/Hiker Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are great for keeping my 9 1/2 narrow, over-pronating flat feet dry when walking our frequently wet trails. They are a tad shorter than I would wish in order to wear the thicker socks I like, but I can wear thinner socks with them. Thanks, STP, for advertising what foot types are best suited for some of your shoes. I've always had difficulty buying shoes even in person, but with your shoe fit guide and pictures of the soles (to see if they are straight-lasted or curved), I have been able to successfully order two pairs of boots and four recreational shoes that fit with only one return (casual shoe).
By Judy L. from Chicago, IL on 02/09/2009 Cons: Not Comfortable, Not flexible Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I ordered my size and the shoe was both too short and too narrow.
