By Recreational hiker from San Francisco, CA on 07/01/2008 Pros: Durable, Non-slip sole, Water Resistant Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: After reading a review by a big time hiker, I was sold on these. However, the fact that the eyelets come way too far forward towards the toe (like a rock climbing shoe) causes the toe area to be crammed such that these shoes are not comfortable, and I do not look forward to wearing them. My toes go numb sometimes from the pressure. I would not buy them again. The picture does not really do justice to how far forward the eyelets are.

I especially like the fact that they have the XCR membrane. I'm pretty used to having sticky rubber on a lot of my footwear, so this is also a plus.

By bmp from Madison, WI on 02/01/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Stable, Water Resistant Cons: Laces don't last long Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Everyday, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend I use these shoes all winter in Wisconsin. The Gore-Tex allows my feet to breathe, but also keeps them dry in the wet and slush of Winter.
I have also used these on the trail. Did a one-day down and up of the Grand Canyon last Spring in them...They were flawless.
This is one of the best all-around shoes I have ever owned...period!
