Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this for calm-water kayaking with my 3 year old son, scheduled for next month. I have only tried it out at the pool, and first and foremost my kid actually likes wearing this. Perhaps that is the most important factor. This vest is much better fitting than the life jacket bought at Target. Performance-wise, he was able to float and swim (doggie-paddle) well in this. But note that it is not the type of PFD that will keep an unconscious person face up, so I would not use this in any kind of turbulent waters, and will only use it when close supervision is present.
