They are not pretty but the back woods are not the prom.

Fits like a glove and never once hurt. There was not break-in time. It was like a good worn out pair of shoes.
8.5 narrow runs a little wide By crabpaws from San Francisco, CA on 05/04/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Durable, Good Padding, Versatile Best Uses: Pavement, Trails, Winter Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I wear narrow shoes so finding a good fit is always a challenge. New Balance athletic shoes fit me the best but I've found the brand runs a half-size small -- I have to get size 8.5 narrow instead of the usual 8 narrow.
I got these shoes in 8.5 narrow and initially was pleased with the fit but then found they were a little wide for New Balance 8.5 narrows. I put an arch support pad in and wear them with heavier socks. They're very well made and comfortable enough and I wear them often.

I can't tell yet if shoes will break in to comfort as they loosen up.

By Laceup from Santa Rosa on 04/26/2008 Pros: Attractive color, Attractive Design, Comfortable, Durable, Good Padding, Metal eye rings for laces, Plenty of toe room, Versatile Best Uses: House shoe, Pavement, walking shoe Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: A good neutral color, lightweight, good for general wear and casual walking. Metal eye rings for laces are an excellent idea, however the laces themselves are too long.
NB 748 Walking Shoes/Women By Workout Miss from Mid-Missouri on 04/20/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Versatile Best Uses: Pavement, Trails, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels full size too big Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The shoe was attractive and very Alaska. We are traveling there in mid June however, the padding seemed insufficient and while I ordered in the size I usually wear in New Balance, the shoe was too long and the heel too wide. Had it fit properly, I would have kept the shoes instead of having to return.
