Good quality, size runs small By Zeke from Raleigh, NC on 10/28/2009 Pros: Quality construction Cons: Full zip reversed, Not two-way zipper, XXL fits like XL Best Uses: Cold Weather, Extreme Conditions, Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels too small Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I'm an XL, but have had to get XXL in other outer shells in order to layer, but even the XXL didn't have enough layer room in this jacket. As others have noted, the zipper is backwards for US men. Also, the zipper is one-way, so you can't zip up from the bottom a little.
Not what I was hoping for. By Old Timer from Madison, AL on 06/04/2009 Cons: Not Enough Pockets or Features, Pit zippers are to small Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels too small Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The jacket had no outside pockets for your hands, pit zippers were half the lenght of other mountianeering jackets I've owen, plus no outside cover over zipper.
If you're thick in the chest, beware By HellsBells from Funroe, GA on 04/21/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Lightweight Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels too small Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I'm not fat by any means, (32" Waist 50" Chest) but if you're a gym rat or just big in the chest, buy big. I went with a XXL and it's close in the chest. I could probably squeeze a thin base layer (fleece) under it, but it would be tight. Jacket is absolutely remarkable though. What's odd is that the jacket fits perfect everywhere else (shoulders, armpits, abdomen, length) except the chest and arm length, which is expected with a climbing jacket. I would buy another one, but I'm glad I went XXL.
Tried others this is the best design By Big Kahuna from Brooklyn, NY on 03/08/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm Best Uses: Cold Weather, Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Took it to the tailor to adjust the arm length and wore it with an arm sling.
Was able to put it on, zip it up without assistance. Will wear this all year round. Bought a second one. Have Marmot, Sierra design,EMS but this one is my favorite.Removes perspiration well. I could not believe the weight! By Shaggy OD from Flagstaff AZ on 03/03/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Windproof Best Uses: Extreme Conditions, Hiking and Camping, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: While ice climbing in Ouray I could scarcely tell I had it on! Good freedom of movement no useless pockets where my harness goes. The hood adjusts easily to fit over a helmet or shrinks down when I don't have a helmet. I am 5'11" and 165 pds. I have a medium and can fit a few layers underneath just right for climbing. I have long arms and an athletic build so this jacket works great for me.
Very nice light and waterproof By matt from grass valley, ca on 02/24/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Waterproof Best Uses: Extreme Conditions, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Great Shell-Sleeves are really long By Jon from Pocatello, Idaho on 01/27/2009 Pros: Lightweight, No insulation, Shell only Chest Size: Feels too small Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I usually fit a Large size. In order to fit layers/fleece jacket underneath, I had to return it and get an Extra Large. In proportion with the overall size of the jacket, the sleeves are way too long (I recognize the longer sleeves are intended to overlap gloves--but it is still too long). Overall, I am very happy with jacket especially how lightweight it is.
Great jacket! I should have bought 2.
