By cfbrtr from Birmingham, AL on 01/01/2008 Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is very small and light weight. The best use for this would probably be at home during a power outage. I was expecting something bigger but this is no larger than a soft drink can.
Bright light but smaller than I expected By Cindy, nature photographer from Manchester, Mo on 12/19/2007 Pros: Bright, Cute, Durable, Lightweight, Runs by winding, Stable Cons: No Beam Adjustment, Smaller than expected Best Uses: Camping in back yard, Use for child play Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I purchased this for my two nephews. It is a great lantern for homemade tents and back yard camp outs. It does put off a strong light and is light weight. Although the size was shown indicated when I bought it, I was disappointed by the small size of the lantern. But then again, if you want something small to stuff in a back pack that give get light, this will be very appealing. By the way, you must crank the light to keep it running. Which is fun for a kid but may get old if you are using for serious camping.
By sierradave from san rafael, ca on 12/12/2007 Pros: Bright, Long battery life Best Uses: Car Camping, Day trip Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: light is decent, small size is great, construction is probably not as durable as it should be
By Pat the Gifter from Austin, TX on 12/12/2007 Best Uses: Motorcycle camping Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Ability to charge it by cranking is great in emergencies, and if you haven't needed to use it in a while. Good, very basic, area light. Young people might even be able to read by it, not I (62).
Light without extra weight By John from Juneau, Alaska on 12/10/2007 Best Uses: Backpacking, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This product is extremely handy for overnight camping trips. It weighs less than gas lights and provides enough light for reading.
By Sardoc the Great Explorer from Capt Cook on 12/10/2007 Cons: Dim, No Beam Adjustment Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I was astonished when I opened the box and saw this diminuative "lantern". I was replacing a full sized emergency lantern that broke after 15 yrs of good service. With a MSRP of [$]it never occured to me that it is miniature (about 5" tall) and not very bright (you would go blind trying to read by it). Having said all that, I kept it for meandering in the dark in the islands, since it will not need batteries. Might be fun for kids?
We gave this as Christmas Gifts By Co from Eminence, MO on 12/10/2007 Best Uses: Backpacking, Car Camping, Emergency, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: We go camping quite a bit with our kids. We'll use this lantern in our tents when camping. It's bright enough to play cards by. We've previously used a candle (in a little case with glass, it hangs). The people we gave this to for Christmas all love it. It's a little hard to get the crank out if you have larger fingers.
Apex wind-up Lantern a winner By Chip the Beast from Bethlehem, PA on 12/06/2007 Pros: Bright for its size, Can hang or stand, Charge seems to last, Quick to charge wdynamo, Seems durable, Very compact lightweight Cons: Can't aim the light beam, No Beam Adjustment Best Uses: Backpacking, Car Camping, Hiking, Small areatrouble light Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Alot of light in a small package. I use it when camping & keep one in the car. It works better than a beam-type flashlight for small area lighting. Very economical due to the dynamo charging function.
