Comments: I bought this headlamp 2 weeks ago and have already used it on two 3day/2night trips. The beam is perfect: not too narrow, not too wide. The high and low settings are just right for me. At first I didn't like the cord that attaches the light to the power source, but then I just clipped the source to the back side of the head strap and that worked just fine. I have been using strictly the battery box and I haven't noticed any dimming yet after 5 nights of fairly heavy use.

Comments: I used this head lamp with my outdoor adventure students. It really did the trick. we used the head lamp to find fossils in fading sunlight and read star charts at night. It gave off plenty of light. An added bonus is that the mechanics of the lilght was also educational. They were amazed that "we make the energy" to power the light.

Pros:
Adjustable Beam, Bright, Durable, Long battery life
Cons:
Crank batterypack 110mAh
Best Uses:
Backpacking, Caving, FireRescueEMS
Describe Yourself:
Avid Adventurer
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments: Positive lock on the cord to the battery packs. Cord has enough length that you can keep the battery packs warm. The crank rechargeable LiOn battery pack is only 110 mAh so you might want to crank it before doing some dicey moves. But you can put 2700 mAh NiMH batteries in the included 2nd battery pack for 3 AA batteries. This is my EMS jump bag primary, and other packs secondary, light. Only 3 LEDs but then it is my light of last resort so I can get out from many hours deep in a cave or hours deep in the woods on a dark night. The USB recharger for the crank battery pack seems a bit hokey but it works.
