Why do I have to wear this??? By Kahlua from Georgia on 10/21/2009 Pros: Easy to Put On, Good Quality Describe Yourself: Single Dog Owner Sizing: Feels half size too big Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: My dog is gaining weight slowly but since I walk her every day but I can't walk faster it seems like if she has to work harder during the walk she will burn some fat - but only in cool weather. Ceasar Milan also recommends this to give the dog "a job" however my dog doesn't like it BUT is much better behaved and heels the whole time - no sniffing/running back and forth doesn't even pee or poop. Pack fits well, doesn't slide but probably a small would be better since the packs hang down farther than necessary and she isn't a short dog- she weighs 47 pounds
By New Pup Parent from North Georgia on 08/01/2009 Pros: Cute, Easy to Put On Cons: Sides must be same weight Best Uses: Large Dogs, Outdoors, Travel Describe Yourself: New Owner Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Cool pack, and great for having Fido carry his own supplies. The sides must be evenly weighted though, or the pack slides. This can be a bit challenging as the slightest difference seems to affect the balance significantly.

Hint: Use flexible Platypus water bottles for the dogs to pack their own water.
By AmyD from Okinawa, Japan on 06/25/2009 Pros: Cute, Easy to Put On, Fun, Good Quality Best Uses: Harsh Weather, Large Dogs, Outdoors, Travel Describe Yourself: Single Dog Owner Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I measured Rana before ordering and ordered the size from those measurements and the fit seems perfect. I need to make a couple adjustments, but it went on easily and fit almost right right away. We haven't loaded it yet because we want her to get used to the feel, but I can't wait for her to carry her own toys and some of her water.
By TB from Duluth, MN on 05/25/2009 Pros: Durable, Easy to Put On, Good Quality Best Uses: Day hikes, Outdoors Describe Yourself: Multiple Dog Owner Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This pack was initially very difficult to adjust. I called the manufacturer and they agreed it was difficult and offered no help. Finally got it as close as I could. My dog didn't mind it at all. It stood up very well to the harsh environments he has to go through and although it slipped to one side about four inches (I continually put it back in place) I finally just left it and he never seemed to mind. Didn't move after the initial four. The bags even seem to be a bit waterproof, after swimming across streams nothing inside got too wet. After over 25 miles of technical hiking, my dog never minded the pack and they both held up very well.
By meg from san jose, ca on 05/25/2009 Best Uses: Backpacking, Outdoors Describe Yourself: Multiple Dog Owner Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I got this product for a 3 day backpacking trip. I wanted to take my dog, but wouldn't have been able to carry all my stuff AND hers. I was hoping she could carry her own food. She is a small german shepherd (65 lbs?). The pack was totally functional. In the past, I have tried wearable dog items (like harnessess / seatbelts) and obviously she disliked wearing them. I expected her to look miserable when I put the pack on, but she didn't. She didn't seem to mind it all. She seemed comfortable. My only problem was that if I didn't balance the pack carefully, it would slide around. This is sort of inconvenient because it meant dividing her food into equal portions in ziplock bags and putting 1/2 on each side. I couldn't put water on one side and food on the other. The pack was just large enough to fit a 1 liter nalgene bottle of water on one side. It would have been nice to put a water bottle on one side, and food on the other, but because the water was heavier, that didn't work. So I ended up carrying all the water.
Load it up and move out most definitely! By Krae and Sofie the Outdoor Fanatics from Spokane, Wa on 05/25/2009 Pros: Cute, Easy to Put On, Fun, Good Quality, Washes Well Best Uses: Outdoors, Travel Describe Yourself: Single Dog Owner Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Purchased this as my Shorthair's first pack. I was a little worried about the size fitting her skinny body and capacity of the pack but once I got it, adjusted everything and worked with what I wanted to put it I found it worked perfectly! Upon another's suggestion I purchased two 1L Platypus water bottles (Thanks for that) and used a push down top from a cheapy water bottle. For our short hikes and runs I put those on each side of the pack as well as my car keys, treats, and her leash, and it works perfectly. I also found I can put both those water bottles with her leash on one side, treats and a day+ food in the other and we are good to go for an overnighter+. She loves the pack and when I hold it up she runs right over and under it, ready to be hooked up. Images shared by: Krae and Sofie the Outdoor FanaticsOn Point in her Olly Pack! Exactly what I hoped for! By SBg1rl from Santa Barbara, CA on 05/13/2009 Pros: Easy to Put On, Good Quality Best Uses: Hiking, Outdoors Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I love this pack. Originally, I was super disappointed when I got it. One side of the handle (on top) wasn't sewn down at all - an obvious defect (I bought two and the other was perfect). I still put it on my pit mix for size and took him on a test run, romp through the yard, and a game of chase with my other dog. He seemed annoyed for the first minute but after that it was if he didn't have anything on at all. I exchanged it for a non-defective one and adore it.
It is wonderful for hiking and having your pup carry his own water. Also, I add water on shorter jogs to give him an extra work out.
Another plus: the clip across the belly attaches on the side so your dog can lay down without having it press into his belly or you can release it when he's resting. I found the straps to be extremely long but there are elastic ties (I don't know their proper name) that keep them stowed neatly away.
Regarding size: The Medium fits my 60 lb pup well (there is plenty of excess length on the straps), and the Large even fits the 110 lb dog.
Defect aside, I love this pack. And you can't beat the price. Sierra Trading Post is the best!
By touringkayaker from upstate NY on 04/23/2009 Describe Yourself: Single Dog Owner Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Only used for "test runs" in the local parks & trails so far, but our young lab seems to tolerate it well. Don't think I'd recommend it for bushwacking, too easy to get hung up on something.
