Makes my dog work on his walks By The Occassional Fisherman from Columbus, OH on 03/09/2009 Pros: Easy to Put On, Fun, Good Quality Best Uses: Large Dogs, Outdoors, Travel Describe Yourself: Multiple Dog Owner Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Used to take my dog for a walk, he would be as hyper when we got done as when we started. Now a couple of soda cans in each side and he comes home breathing a little bit harder.

By LabLover from Michigan on 03/05/2009 Describe Yourself: Multiple Dog Owner Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: As an owner of young lab that is full of energy, I purchased this to add weight during her daily walks. The behavior with the weighted pack on is much better. I worried about adjusting the fit since she is a small lab but just adjusting the main stomach strap and chest strap worked perfectly for her 55 pound frame. The pockets are a great size, I started out with 2 soup cans in each side than moved up to using 5 pound hand weights. Her movement is not restricted, she can sit, and even jump up on platforms without any difficulty. I researched quite a few packs before this purchase and am very pleased with this choice!

He took to the dog pack instantly and that's not an exaggeration. Instantly. The next morning he took his 2.5 mile walk with me and was clearly proud of his new gear. I'm buying one for his brother today. Images shared by: Upstate NY Dog LoverOne Proud Pup Tags: Using Product

By Potternwinnie from Columbus, Ohio on 02/16/2009 Pros: Easy to Put On, Good Quality Describe Yourself: Multiple Dog Owner Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I use it when I take the dogs for a walk, and I put 2 water bottles in each dog's backpack to wear them out more quickly! Seems to be a good product, I've use it 3 times now.
By gwyson from Cape Cod MA on 01/31/2009 Pros: Cute, Easy to Put On, Good Quality Best Uses: Outdoors, Travel Describe Yourself: Multiple Dog Owner Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great pack! Is well made and very nice looking. Keep both sides balanced, though, or it tends to slide a bit. Dawson (Dog) didn't seem to mind it.
By Mikavexo from Seattle, WA on 01/25/2009 Pros: Easy to Put On, Good Quality Describe Yourself: Dog Trainer, Multiple Dog Owner Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: First the bad: After securing the pack to my dog (25" high) I rolled up the excess straps and secured it with the attached elastic. This didn't work out to well and the straps came loose and my dog was able to chew the end of the strap. Ultimately this doesn't matter because my dog is full grown and I'm not going to need the extra length of strap. The pack is still secure so the accessible straps aren't critical to the use of the pack. If I would have put my army hat on, I would have simply known to use some 100mph tape (duct tape to civilians) and secured the ends myself.
The good stuff: The pack fits my dog perfectly and isn't so big as to tempt me to overload my dog. I never put more than 1/3 of my dogs body weight onto the packs and this is perfect for that. My dog weighs 60-70lbs at the moment and this pack can distribute 20-30lbs nicely depending on shape and size of the contents. The material is sturdy and don't have a problem traipsing through the woods with him wearing it. I haven't left it on him in water and I wouldn't keep it on him when playing with other dogs.

By teamdirtdogs from riverside, ca on 01/18/2009 Pros: Easy to Put On, Good Quality Describe Yourself: Multiple Dog Owner Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: we have 3 large dogs, this pack is used on our yellow lab, a squat, stocky british type. we own 3 different brands of packs...kelty (rei), granite gear ruff rider, and this. the kelty and the g.g. both run about 50 bucks. you cannot adjust how low the packs hang on the kelty, and the front/chest strap is in a "Y" formation, so if the packs are unbalanced, i worry the strap will rub her armpits. by adjusting how low the packs hang, it does help with the balancing issue. the granite gear seems to shift the least, but if i lengthen the back straps of the ollydog so the packs hang down more, it's pretty good. the advantage of the ollydog is hands down the price, and also the clasp on the front chest strap allows me to take off the pack more easily (the other 2 i have to slip off over the head).i have used this pack on several long runs.....she just used it on three recent 4 hr runs in the mts, carrying her own water and my snacks. she likes it, we have had no problems with it, and i am most likely going to buy another as a spare at this price.
