Seems to give him a sense of purpose.

Good Fit... Once you get it adjusted! By KayDeeMay from Northern, NY on 12/15/2008 Pros: Cute, Good Quality, Washes Well Describe Yourself: Single Dog Owner Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The pack is well balanced and fits my dog very well. She doesn't seem to mind it at all, and it doesn't interfere with her movement. I just bought a second one as a christmas present. A great gift for anyone that backpacks with their dog but doesn't enjoy carrying their food. The only complaint I would have is that the initial adjustment to make the pack fit well is a bit time consuming. I would recomend doing it at home ahead of time. Unlike myself, who spent half an hour at the trail head while my dog looked on quizicly.
By Eiowin from Grass Valley, CA on 12/13/2008 Pros: Easy to Put On, Good Quality Best Uses: Day hikes or overnight Describe Yourself: Multiple Dog Owner Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: We have two boxers that go everywhere with us. Now they can help carry their own food.
By cooperatumpqua from Roseburg, Oregon on 12/08/2008 Pros: Easy to Put On, Good Quality Best Uses: Carrying food water etc Describe Yourself: Single Dog Owner Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This pack is sized medium, but fits my 70# rott/cross just fine. It has a single strap around the chest and a single strap around the middle; there are several adustments to "fine tune" it. I leave the chest strap hooked and slide it over her head - it's easy to fasten the belly strap. She's only used it a couple of times but it doesn't seem to cause any problems although it wants to slide to one side or the other a little. I'll try tightening the strap, but I didn't want to do this until she got used to carrying it. At this point she's carrying water (and has packed out her own waste! yes!)
Good value for the money, very well built pack.
Decent dog pack, but won't stay put. By Husky Mom from Georgia on 12/06/2008 Pros: Cute, Easy to Put On, Washes Well Cons: Difficult to Balance Best Uses: Large Dogs, Outdoors Describe Yourself: Multiple Dog Owner Sizing: Feels half size too big Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: We purchased the OllyDog pack at the same time as another brand pack, and the OllyDog just doesn't seem to balance as well. Despite carefully weighing the contents of both sides, the pack inexorably slides off to the left of both our tall, lean Husky and our roly-poly Husky/Border Collie cross. After constantly re-adjusting the pack on neighborhood test walks, we have decided not to take it on hiking or backpacking trips.
The pack itself is attractive, does not scratch up easily, and is situated correctly over the dog's shoulders rather than their back. The medium is sized for fairly large dogs, fitting our 50# and 65# dogs with plenty of room for adjustment in the straps. The reflective tape is nice and bright, and the zippers are easy to open. We would be thrilled with this pack if it was better balanced. It does have multiple adjustment straps on the top of the pack, and perhaps we will be happier with the pack after fiddling with those, but I suspect not.
By Tootsie's owner from Sandpoint, ID on 12/04/2008 Pros: Easy to Put On, Good Quality Cons: Compartments too small Describe Yourself: Single Dog Owner Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Wanted to use this for my dog to carry the mail home to give her a job to do, but the compartments are tapered at the bottom and I can't fit in magazines or other larger mail pieces. A large water bottle wouldn't fit either so I'm not sure what I can have her carry. It is nicely made and easy to put on, but...
By Shannon the Hiker from Huntsville, AL on 12/01/2008 Pros: Easy to Put On, Good Quality Cons: Moves back forth a bit Best Uses: Hiking, Outdoors Describe Yourself: Hiker, Single Dog Owner Sizing: Feels half size too big Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: -you have to load both pockets evenly and HAVE to put something in them, otherwise it shifts from side to side
-my dog seems to enjoy it and it helps carry water for those really long hikes
- the red and reflective trim helps people know he's not a wild animal!
By MD Dog Owner from Baltimore, MD on 11/28/2008 Pros: Cute, Easy to Put On, Fun Best Uses: Large Dogs, Outdoors, Travel Describe Yourself: Single Dog Owner Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This pack seems to work well. The only thing I don't like about it is that it will slide to one side or another on my dogs back. It seems to go back to center after a few minutes on its own but does become unbalanced sometimes.
lot of adjustments needed to be made By sunny day from baker city oregon on 11/18/2008 Pros: Cute, Easy to Put On, Fun, Good color brown, Good construction, Good Quality Best Uses: Harsh Weather, Outdoors Describe Yourself: Multiple Dog Owner, New Owner Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: dog=blue heeler cattledog..med size.seems to slide
a bit to one side..slides i think because dog is not
overweight..the top straps are a little difficult
to adjust..they do not stay adjusted very long when
you add a couple bottles of water for weight..had
to sew them so they would stay in place.also had to
sew the front strap..i would probably purchase
another one..
