They are a great help getting through the deep drifts.
By macgyver101 from Perth, Australia on 11/27/2007 Cons: Collapses Too Easily, Unstable Best Uses: Backpacking, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I received this today. It certainly wasnt extendible enough, nor was the "powerlock" system any use. Hit the lock when you extend the pole and try putting weight on it, it will definitely fall. I managed to fix it by using a screwdriver and tightening the lock beyond the material's (hard plastic) tensile strength, so eventually it will break. probably will test these further and if need to, i'll just get another pair shortly. not worth the discount
