great training watch value By Warrior from Milw., WI on 03/12/2008 Pros: Adjustable Watchband, Good Quality, Reliable Best Uses: Everyday, Training Describe Yourself: Athletic, Practical, Stylish Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've never used a heart rate monitor, but since my wife started useing on I thought I'd give it a go since the price was right. I've only used it 5-7 times but can already see that I'm getting a benefit.
Prepare to spend some time setting up the watch, also there is a bit of a learning curve learning how to navigate between functions.
By jaz... from chicago, il on 02/29/2008 Pros: Adjustable Watchband, Good Quality, Reliable, Stylish Describe Yourself: Athletic, Classic, High End Shopper, Modern, Not metro sexual, Practical, Stylish Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a nice product. bought the one with the chocolate/brown one. However it is pretty complicated and the user guide is like reading a short novel. It is worth every penny though. Great buy for me only spent [$]on it. and use it ever time I train. As for the belt and battery life it has only been a month so i really can't tell you.
Changed my Training Methods By RDNZL from Wakefield MA on 12/22/2007 Pros: Adjustable Watchband, Good Quality, Reliable Describe Yourself: Athletic, Knucklehead, Practical Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The watch is a puzzling two tone, but I don't care about that compared to how important the information it provides during workouts. It took me about an hour to learn how to set up and navigate the product. The watch immediately demonstrated it's functionality, refining my runs, customizing how I run and what I yield from different coursework, including treadmill. I suggest combining use of the watch with a little education on heartrate - [@] Two complaints: I can't find information on whether the belt transmits constantly or if it turns off with the two leads are dry. That said, I remove the battery when not in use, which puts wear on the cap that holds the battery in place. The wear needs to be removed (sanded off) or it is abrasive on my chest. When you compare this with other monitor/watches, (including other Suuntos) this is a great value.
By b from austin, tx on 12/13/2007 Cons: Face scratched first wear, White case Describe Yourself: Athletic Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: the product description should have said the case was white, since it looked gunmetal in the photo.
By Deployed from Iraq on 12/12/2007 Pros: Adjustable Watchband, Good Quality, Stylish Describe Yourself: Athletic Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a lot better than my previous two Polar monitors. I like all of the display options and that it has a back light. The belt has a replaceable battery which is a big plus. It has a lot of features so you have to look at the manual a little. The large display is very nice. This watch is large so it wouldn't look very nice on a small woman. The watch allows you to see your actual heart rate, percent HR, calories burned, stop watch and time all at the same time in an easy to read format. It has a very unique way of doing this with an LCD pointer that matches to HR and Calories that are printed on the face of the watch. Very clever and useful!
Easy to read, easy to use By newtrigirl from boise, ID on 12/09/2007 Pros: Adjustable Watchband, Big watch face, Good manual, Good Quality Describe Yourself: Athletic, Modern, Practical Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is my first HR monitor, but so far I think it's very easy to use, has alot of functions and is easy to read. I'm a very small framed woman, so the face is a little big on my arm. However, the size makes it easy to read.
By Karen from Va Beach on 12/05/2007 Pros: Adjustable Watchband, Good Quality, Stylish, Sweat friendly band Cons: Crystal very exposed, Very large face Describe Yourself: Athletic, High End Shopper, Practical, Stylish Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The Suunto T1 is a cool sports watch, especially for the price. It's surprisingly light for the large face. I have fairly thin wrists and the face covers the entire frontside of my wrist. But it is thin-not bulky. The face is very exposed and is likely to get scratched up at some point. Also, I ordered the dark brown but it looks diff than the website--the band is like the colors (coral, olive) not like the photo. No biggie, its more breathable with the elongated holes. Very easy to read but the manual is a huge tome of info. Once read, the watch is easy enough and will get more familiar with time and use. Highly recommended.
