Everything you might need in a basic kit By Lizabee from Berkeley, CA on 04/02/2008 Best Uses: Keep In The Medicine Cabinet, Keep In The Trunk, Outdoor Activities, Quick Fix Describe Yourself: CPR Trained, Parent Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a great price for a basic first aid kit that will contain most things you might need for an outdoor emergency. Comes with an informative First Aid manual to help you remember what to do in specific types of emergencies.
One nice feature is that the kit is divided into four separate bags, each one clearly labeled by type of emergency: Wound Care/Burns/Blister, Medications, Bleeding/CPR, and Fractures/Sprains; each label also has a handy reference for dealing with that particular type of emergency. This will help you find what you need within the kit quickly.
I added a tube of medicine to help with mosquito bite itching and some extra pain relievers and anti-inflammatories to augment what is already in there. I also added a plastic mouthguard for performing CPR, some extra cold packs, and some extra space blankets in case there happens to be more than one victim (there is one included with the kit).
This is a great value for a comprehensive kit, much less expensive than those I saw at other retailers.
This kit is just what I needed! By Paddler from Texas on 03/13/2008 Pros: Easy To Use, Repacks easily Best Uses: Keep In The Trunk, Outdoor Activities Describe Yourself: CPR Trained Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Everything is packaged by injury type in super-tough ziploks, so immersion isn't an issue.
