By T from Aurora, OH on 04/23/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Sturdy/Durable Cons: Need to break them in, Need to keep waterproof, Not insulated Best Uses: Day Hiking, Light Loads, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too small, Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I plan on conditioning the leather before I break them in. I read the reviews and it stated that they were good for narrow feet and 1/2 size too small. I wear a 5.5-6 N and so I purchased the size 6. I've been looking a long time for affordable hiking boots that would fit. I have a low volume foot and many boots were too expensive and too large. So glad I was able t find something that fit and was in budget. Oh, BTW, they are really cute and classy looking.
By Wanna be hiker from WI on 03/04/2009 Pros: Arch Support, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Wet Conditions Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Love the boot. Great arch support for a hiking boot. Great fit and accommadates thick or thin socks. Decent toe box. I usually wear a womens 7 but I followed their advice and got a 1/2 size smaller. Fits like a glove. I like how sturdy it is.
By Midwest Hiking Mom from Columbus, OH on 01/28/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Thanks for the advice on the sizing. These boots are pretty and worth the money. The attention to detail on these boots is great. The laces are strong and the boots overall feel like a protective shell. Best for narrow feet.
By Kale & Collards from Western Washington on 01/07/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I read all the reviews on this boot and am so glad I bought them. They are just as beautiful in person and are clearly one of the most well made boots you can find. As for sizing, I fit in a 6.5-7 depending on brand. I ordered a 7 (39) and am really happy with the fit. I agree with a previous poster that a lady with a wider foot might not be happy with these. Overall, these have lived up to my expectations and I am so happy to own these, I think I will have them a long long time.
beautiful boots, but watch the sizing By jd from cincinnati on 01/03/2009 Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These are absolutely beautiful boots. Unfortunately, the fit wasn't what I needed, so they were returned. But that's no fault of the boot--even the best boots just won't fit some feet. I WISH they had fit. I can't give these 5 stars because I never even really got a chance to try them out, but judging from the construction and my experience with other Scarpa boots, I'd say a 5 is reasonable. Make sure you size up one full size, but note that Sierra has the sizes listed differently from the sizes listed on the Scarpa size charts. For instance, Scarpa lists the European size 38 as a US size 7, whereas STP lists a 38 as a size 6. The Sierra translation is much closer to the true US size. Unfortunately, this adds yet another wrinkle to the difficult task of finding the right size in a Scarpa boot. I needed a US 6, ordered a Scarpa 38, and got very close to a US 6. The size wasn't the problem with the fit.

By sherryp from Livingston, MT on 12/08/2008 Pros: Arch Support, Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The nubuck boots were not in stock in my size at the Cody store, so I tried another pair of scarpa's on for size then the clerk ordered what I thought would be the right size. Lesson: Scarpa's sizing runs small and can vary from shoe style to shoe style. Too bad too, cause their boots are gorgeous.
Beautiful-scant padding around ankles By Tenderfoot from Portland, OR on 11/30/2008 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: as with my other Scarpa boot, runs a little small. Best to go up one full size. Not for wide feet, OK for narrow to medium volume. Absolutely a beautifully made boot, and gorgeous color. I waterproofed them, and did not notice any change in color. Unfortunately, my bony ankles, plus the absence of thick padding around the ankle, caused one extremely painful spot if I attempted to lace the boot snugly. If I loosened up the boot, I lost the ankle support which you need when carrying a heavy load. These boots are so beautiful I made the decision([perhaps rash) to keep them and hope I could break that spot in. Since I know I traditionally have problems with my ankle bones in many shoes, I still feel I can highly recommend this boot.
