Scarpa boots sturdy and supportive By B lava lady from Hawaii on 03/25/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant Cons: Stiff in the ankle area Best Uses: Backcountry, Day hikes, Rocky terrain, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I purchased these boots so that I could better hike on very rocky terrain here on the Big island in Hawaii. Think LAVA LAVA LAVA and WET WET WET
These boots support my ankles, are non-skid and have been a great purchase for the type of hiking that I want to be able to do. I felt like I could jump from rock to rock without cracking my ankles.
My only beef is that the area around the ankle above my instep is not padded enough so the first few hikes have left that area of my feet feeling a little bruised. I needed the boots to be stiff because of the rocks, so I do not really know if there is a way to better address this.
By Lori from Boston, MA on 03/24/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Everyday Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels half size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have a wide foot, so I went up a full size. These workboots are incredibly well-made. They are built to last a very long time. It is not a moss color, but instead a green with a hint of blue in the leather.. I love them!!!! They are very easy to put on and take off, as well, because the leather it is one solid piece of leather..
Unexpectedly poor quality for a Scarpa By A generally happy customer from Halifax, Nova Scotia on 03/06/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable Best Uses: Cold weather, Day hikes Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this pair for my wife. Unfortunately it seems to be a bit shoddy for a Scarpa. The joint between the sole and the boot is rather imperfect and there are lots of scuff marks on the sides of the new boot! I was a little surprised by it because I recently bought one for myself which is flawless and I have another Scarpa that I have used for over 13 years and it is still fully functional.
By Active Mom from West Michigan on 03/05/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable, Water Resistant Cons: Heavy, Sole has very little flex Best Uses: Backcountry, Cold weather, Day hikes, Wet Weather Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: A bit stiff and heavy for everyday wear but extreemly comfortable. An excellent example of Scarpa's great boots.
