By Strada from Seattle on 05/30/2009 Pros: Easy To Use, Functional Best Uses: Fresh Water, Traveling Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The L2L is the older system that doesn't offer the re-connect ability that the new system has. This system connects with a push in/click fastening which if pulled off and re-attached may not offer the same break strength at the connection. The connection is rated at approximately 10 lb break strength. This has been fine for stream and small river trout. It is excellent for a novice who doesn't want to spend time tying knots for leader connection.
Couldn't get #5 line through connector By AuSable Flyer from Rochester, N.Y. on 04/07/2009 Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I use a number 5 fly line and the connector states it is for #7 line and below. I could not get my #5 line through the connector. The idea seems fantastic.
By john n from fort smith, ar on 03/01/2009 Pros: Durable, Easy To Maintain, Easy To Use, Functional Best Uses: Fresh Water, Traveling Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: its not that I have anything against building leaders...and some quiet days I still do...but I find myself using these more and more in past several years. It's just a simple design that works.
Turns over well, connector doubles as a small stike indicator, and I'd say durable, yes...my best ever day (numbers wise) was using a L2L leader - I really hate counting, but this day was kind of special - 4 species, 87 fish, 6 hours...one L2L leader and not a lot of room for error - we had hiked in 7 miles and camped. Tackle was limited to what we brought in, so what we brought better have worked. These L2L leaders never let me down - like I said, used one for an entire very special day.
By Carlo from Independence. OR on 02/01/2009 Pros: Durable, Easy To Maintain, Easy To Use, Functional Describe Yourself: Avid Fisher Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've used a similar self-made system for many years. It's about time a manufacturer picked up on the same idea. You can stretch the use of the leaders even farther simply by tying a Duncan loop as the tippet portion is used up and then add your own tippet with a Duncan loop for a slick and easily changeable loop to loop connection. One leader can last a long, long time using this system replacing only the tippet section.
