These were perfect - just what I needed By Brenda from San Jose, CA on 10/03/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Flexible, Good grips, Lightweight, Strong Best Uses: Backpacking, Day trip, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is the second pair of trekking poles I have bought, my first pair were trials to see if it would be worth the investment. To my surprise when I got these, they were so much lighter and the grip more conforming than my old pair. Loved them! I have been hiking becoming an avid hiker took them to the Tahoe Rim with me. The only con is the poles came with a compass, one in each. On compass worked, the other didn't. The compass that actually worked fell out the first time I laid my poles down at our first stop and couldn't find it. The overall quality of the poles outweigh a little compass I wouldn't have used anyway.
will never hike without these again By BF from Klamath FAlls, Oregon on 08/22/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Flexible, Good grips, Lightweight, Strong Best Uses: Backpacking, Day trip, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These poles were just out of the box when my son asked to use them on his 5 day hike thru Yosemite. He called me upon his return stating that he would never go hiking again without them. So, he will buy me a replacement set so that I can finally get to use a set of these poles. He could find no issues to complain about.
I love the poles but some glitches By catnip from Bellevue, WA on 08/21/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Flexible, Good grips, Lightweight, Strong Best Uses: Backpacking, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I love the poles, but one of the compasses became lopsided and quit. The only other problem I had was that they came with no directions, at least not in English. Sierra Trading Post was wonderful in helping me and having someone call me promptly. I still have a little problem getting it all right, but once they get working, they are great. Truly saved my knees on steep rocky hikes in Alaska.
By mountain mama from Corbett, Oregon on 07/17/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Flexible, Good grips, Lightweight, Strong Best Uses: Backpacking, Day trip, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The grips are very comfortable. Sweaty hands don't slip. Extended is nice when traversing snow fields or any slope with one side higher than the other. Very helpful in establishing a rhythm. Great for "he-man" steps- up and down. These have really saved my knees!
By TMex from SE WA on 06/17/2009 Pros: Good grips, Lightweight, Strong Cons: Collapses Too Easily Best Uses: Backpacking, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I liked the poles a lot, but I agree that they can collapse too easily. The twist-to-lock approach is certainly easy, but when your hands are wet it's a lot to ask. I lost the last segment of one pole, but a good samaritan brought it to me later on - score one for karma! Poles are a BIG help on steep/long hikes.
Great poles with one problem By 14er guy from Fort Collins, CO on 06/02/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Good grips, Strong Best Uses: 14er, Backpacking, Day trip, Hiking, Snow shoeing Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Overall, great poles. I've used them for a 14er last week. The one thing that bothered me was that on the ascent of my last hike, I set the Anti-Shock to "off" but after only a few steps it would turn back "on".
Komperdell Anti-Shock Poles By Mr. Getting Older So Need Poles from Fresno, CA on 06/02/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Good grips, Lightweight, Strong Best Uses: Backpacking, Day trip, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: First time using trekking poles, so can't compare to other brands. Poles performed well. They are light and sturdy. So far they seem to be very durable. Easy to lock and easy to turn on/off anti-shock. Overall, I'm very pleased with them. I would definitely recommend them.
Poles--you gotta use them to judge them- By steel sieve from Virgiia on 06/01/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Good grips, Lightweight, Strong Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I have yet to really use the poles. The compasses inset into the handles are almost useless--one doesnt work, the other is sloooooow and really has a hard time finding north--perhaps we are having a magnetic-pole shift!
