The first two had to be returned due to problems with the locking mechanism. The first time it did not lock tightly. The second time the lock jammed and could not be released.

They have saved me in more ways than one. The really help my knees and ankles on the long down hill stretches and on really rocky trails. They are a must when crossing streams.

Caution: do not depend upon the locking system to support you in a critical situation.

Never had a problem with them. Did use them on NH mountain hiking trip and lower locks failed on both. Sierra Trading Post replaced them without a problem and new sticks work great. For the money you can't go wrong.
