Not full-length walking pole By Hiker from New Mexico from Mountainair, NM on 12/26/2008 Pros: Easy to adjust, Good grips, Lightweight Best Uses: Walking disability Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I was looking for a single walking/trekking pole for my husband, similar to the Leki I have used for years. However, I did not read the specs carefully and only realized on Christmas morning when my husband opened his gift how short the stick is -- only 39.5 inches. So it's my error -- but wanted to point out to others that if you're looking for a traditional hiking/walking/trekking pole, this will most likely not be what you're looking for. It's more like a cane -- you can use it for support, but you can't use it with the strap to pull yourself up inclines, for example. I'm exchanging this for another Komperdell that's 145 cm (57 inches).
By DD from Pittsburgh, PA on 12/12/2008 Pros: Easy to adjust, Lightweight, Strong Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Komperdell is a top quality product. I've had a hip replacement and occasionally need cane-type assistance. This is the ticket. Note how small it is when collapsed, unlike my Leki trekking poles. I'll just store it under my car seat or carry it in my carry-on when flying.
By Aquaman from Finger Lakes, NY on 12/08/2008 Pros: Good grips, Lightweight, Strong Best Uses: Day trip, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought this for my 72 year old mom. She has been falling and needs a "third leg". It is just the thing for her travel to Europe and for casual hikes in the Adirondack foothills as well as walking the dog in the winter.

Flexes a lot but seems strong. We will see after a year of use.

I'm even using it in the snow!
Walking pole a comfortable alternative By Peter from Phoenix on 11/26/2008 Best Uses: Backpacking, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I switched from dual trekking poles to the walking pole because I was developing severe tennis elbow. Not sure it was caused by the poles, but after a long hike it hurt. These walking poles are like canes that allow stability without bending and straining the wrist & elbow. They don't have quite the range for stream crossings or lifting oneself up hills, but they help and did not seem to aggrevate my elbows.
"Like it so much, I bought a second one" By ptldrabbit from Portland, OR on 11/10/2008 Pros: Easy to adjust, Flexible, Good grips, Lightweight, Strong Cons: Collapses Too Easily Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this for my husband who has needed something to aid in walking but was hesitant to start using a "regular" cane. He uses it most places we go, be it trails or around town. He likes it so much that we have purchased a second one, for back up.

Sturdy, dependable, & compact By Pam Adventurer from San Francisco Bay Area on 11/07/2008 Pros: Easy to adjust, Good grips, Lightweight, Strong Best Uses: Day trip, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: took this for a 6 week adventure in Budapest, Scotland, Wales, and England. Absolutely fantastic for negotiating all those cobbled streets, narrow staircases, and uneven soggy ground. Great in the city because it collapses to a handy size yet opens up to the perfect height for hiking.
