By Johnoe from Smoky Mountains on 09/09/2009 Pros: Flexible, Good grips, Lightweight Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I haven't used these yet for what I obtained them for, which is steep trail hiking. I am 57 years young, and did a very steep hike last year in Yellowstone up from the Lamar River to the Specimen Ridge Trail, short, but extremely steep. I did fine going up, but my knees gave out coming down (some sections one to one), and decided I needed these. In casual testing, they seem to be just what I need.
Very useful and comfortable By Vl from Irvine, CA on 08/21/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Good grips Cons: Collapsed - pretty long, Could be lighter Best Uses: Day trip, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've never thought hiking poles could be so useful. Used them recently on several day hikes in Colorado. Very comfortable, taking the pressure from the knees. The cork grip, although harder than foam didn't cause blisters at all. I am very pleased with these poles (and their price).
Really liked using these poles! By over 65 hikers from Balaton, MN on 08/16/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Good grips, Lightweight, Strong Best Uses: Car Camping, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: My husband and I used these poles for our recent camping trip to Rocky Mountain National Park. We did a lot of hiking on the trails and found these poles to be VERY helpful--stability on uneven surfaces, assisted in steep uphill steps, relieved pressure on our knees on the downhills, etc. Overall, we were glad we had them!!

By phenocryst from bishop, ca on 08/06/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Good grips, Strong Cons: Collapses Too Easily Best Uses: Backpacking, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I worked them hard the first time out. I was dubious about the whole idea of "trekking" poles but got them to try to relieve knee pain and was pleasantly surprised at how much they helped me use my upper body to gain power and speed. After a hard workout, zero knee pain. YES! Found that I had to readjust a couple times after twist locks slipped. Also, how do you turn off the shock absorber? (yes, I tried to read the directions!)
By Boo, midweek hiker from Hinesburg, Vermont on 07/27/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Good grips, Lightweight Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I commented on these earlier saying they were great but had only used them once. Well, the second time I used them one of them broke. While I was hiking the pole pulled out and the white piece of plastic on the inside snapped. It's unfortunate because I liked the poles otherwise. Sierra Trading Post will exchange them for me which is good.
By touringkayaker from upstate NY on 07/21/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Good grips, Lightweight Best Uses: Backpacking, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a little tricky to switch between anti-shock and normal mode.
Good anti-shock performance By NH Hiker from Lincoln, NH on 07/10/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Good grips, Lightweight, Strong Best Uses: Backpacking, Day trip, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The poles work great in anti-shock mode, but do not stay locked for long when the anti-shock mode is turned off. At first this was aggravating, but in the end, I found that leaving the poles in anti-shock mode was completely fine (recently hiked the Hancocks in NH).
