These poles did the trick! By Water Ousel from Annapolis, MD on 03/03/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Good grips, Lightweight, Strong Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: We bought these poles for my wife's elderly (91 & 89) parents so we could have our own poles back. They discovered that the poles make it possible to not only walk securely around the block, but they allow these adventurous people to hike in the woods behind our home. It's really wonderful, not to mention amazing, to watch them coming down the trail with big smiles.
By drlsim from Grand Canyon, Arizona on 02/23/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Good grips, Lightweight Cons: Collapses Too Easily Best Uses: Backpacking, Hiking Describe Yourself: Outdoor Professional What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought these to replace ONE pole that I dropped in a creek whilst helping someone cross (should have put on the wrist strap!). I do find them useful, but they have a tendency to collapse when I lean hard on them, like when stepping down into ice and snow when I really, really don't want them to collapse. However I get the impression that this is a common defect in poles which screw closed rather than winter-specific poles with clamps.
By LouLou from Connecticut on 02/04/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Good grips, Lightweight Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Not much to say, as there is not much room for error here. They are lightweight, easily adjustable, and get the job done.
Great product for the money! By Mrs. Active from La Motte, IA on 01/23/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Flexible, Good grips, Lightweight, Strong Best Uses: Hiking, Snowshoeing Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: We gifted our parents with a set of these poles for Christmas. They liked them so well that we bought two more pairs for our own family. Dad was right, they make treking through the snow much easier, and safer, too. This is a great product for the money!
By pete g from Golden,CO on 01/20/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Good grips, Lightweight, Strong Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Decent value for a relatively strong, light treking pole. I use to lighten my knees for long steep decents. Much lighter than using my BD adjustable ski poles and thus swing quick with low swinging mass.
Points:
Don't tighen well in wet with numb hands.
No blisters to report after long hikes but foam might be nicer.
wrist strap is dainty - other models have nicer padded strap

If you need a pair of poles, get these.
Komperdell Trekking Poles By Camille from Knoxville, TN on 12/30/2008 Pros: Easy to adjust, Flexible, Good grips, Lightweight, Strong Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought these for my dad, who has stability issues because of a stroke. He plans to use them for walking in his subdivision. My mom has already seen a huge difference in her walking ability because of using hiking poles. She has Parkinson's and has been able to stave off the progression of the disease because she uses poles to help her walk further and faster.
