Very sturdy table
By flyfishexpertVerified Reviewer from pocatello, id on 7/14/2008
Pros:
Easy Set Up, Lightweight
Cons:
55" is too long to pack
Best Uses:
Beach, Campgrounds, Day Trips, Outdoor Events, Winter Camping
Describe Yourself:
Avid Adventurer
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
This table is very sturdy. We had our stove, cooler, and 7gal water jug on it with out any problems. My only problem with this table was it's length when packed away. 55" in length is too long, and it made it difficult to try and pack in the back of our 4Runner with the rest of our gear for our trip. I have decided to purchase the one smaller than this as it folds down to 43" in length.

Great portable camp table
By SteelieRanVerified Purchaser from Northern California on 7/10/2008
Pros:
Compact, Easy Set Up, Lightweight
Best Uses:
Beach, Campgrounds, Day Trips, Outdoor Events, Road Trips, Undeveloped campsites
Describe Yourself:
Avid Adventurer
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
This is a great table for semi-remote camping. Sturdy construction and ease of use make this table a star when you need a table to cook or dine on in a undeveloped campground. It is very long when stashed so it does take up a bit of room when transporting.

You can set-up this table in under a minute after practice or use. The large surface area is ideal for serving a meal for six (adults) and can be used for handy storage of numerous items. Very sturdy and strong!

Great for the back yard or car camping
By Andrea N.Verified Purchaser from Harriman, NY on 6/9/2008
Pros:
Dual use, Easy Set Up, Sturdy
Cons:
Awkward to carry, Heavy
Best Uses:
Beach, Campgrounds, Day Trips, Outdoor Events, Road Trips
Describe Yourself:
Casual/ Recreational
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Set up very easy the first time, even without the instructions, but gouged me really good when I put it back in the case the first time. The hinges are really sharp and it only folds the length of the table so it's best to lay the case on the ground and ease the table support in or out - at least when you're short.

It's very sturdy so good for a lot of uses. I used it to set up displays for a street festival and it worked great.

However, since I'm only a petite 5'4" and have a compact car, the fact that it stores long and narrow and isn't very light makes it really difficult to carry by the shoulder strap (and I have the bruises to prove it); and it had to be put in at an angle from the floor across the seats in the back of my compact, 4 seat, 2 door car because that's the only way it would fit. Which meant only one passenger. So; unless you're a really tall person with only one person, or no one, to take with you or you have a bigger car; it's best used when you don't have to carry it too far from the car, and if you can carry it with two hands by itself.

We bought this table to use outdoors on the patio and to take camping. We just used it indoors at a party as an extra table, and it was perfect--stable, sturdy, and just the right size, and so easy to set up and put away. I was so impressed with the table that I went back and ordered the smaller size as well. Highly recommended!

good sturdy table
By Hal 9000Verified Purchaser from Carbondale, Colorado on 5/28/2008
Pros:
Nice looking and sturdy
Cons:
Difficult Set Up
Best Uses:
Campgrounds, Car Camping, Day Trips, Road Trips
Describe Yourself:
Avid Adventurer
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
The Alps table seems well made, sturdy and creatively engineered, but there are about 15 parts to assemble. It is not a fold up and go type. There are 8 small plastic clips that attach the top of the table to the frame, these clips are not fixed to the table and could easily fall or slide out and get lost, rendering the whole thing useless if more than one or two are gone. I will probably have to resort to duct tape or something to hold the clips in place when it is apart. After a few trips to the desert we'll see how it holds up and amend the report.

table has great space, but falls short
By lefty in abqVerified Purchaser from albuquerque, nm on 5/21/2008
Cons:
Difficult Set Up, difficult to transport
Best Uses:
Beach, Campgrounds, Day Trips
Describe Yourself:
Avid Adventurer
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
The biggest downfall of this table is that the base doesn't break down, so for its 2 poles you need 6ft of room while the entire rest of the table breaks down to an average of 3ft. A simple shaft-in-shaft design (the way many kayak paddles work, for example) would have allowed the poles to break-down to the same size as the table-top parts. Then storage and transportation would be much simpler. As it is, you need a truck or trailer. To use for river trips, as I plan to, will require quite a bit of rigging.
The table top itself has more parts than it needs and has to be fussed with quite a bit. Overall bad design.

My 9 and 11 year olds were able to pack, carry, set up and take down this lightweight table. (I showed them the process once). It was so simple! We used it on a camping trip this weekend and we cannot wait to use it again.
