By The Sierras & Yosemite-Year-Round from Bay area, CA on 11/28/2007 Pros: Heat lasts ~4-5hrs, Lightweight, Works Well Cons: Up to 30 min to get hot Describe Yourself: Recreational Hunter Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Great for winter camping, mountaineering, or anytime you're in cold weather for extended periods of time w/o intense activity. Best to open these inside a contained compartment (ie: jacket pocket/gloves) b/c they'll heat up faster & stay warmer longer (up to 4-5hrs). Also, if I randomly wake up in my sleeping bag 1-2 hours before I really have to get up, I'll tear a pair open & keep it in my bag, go back to sleep, and they'll be piping hot & ready when I really have to get out of my warm sleeping bag to greet the frigid cold early morning (takes ~30min to get adequately hot depending on how cold it is outside). Great to throw in a few in your first aid kit as well.
