Never worked - should have sent it back By BigJon from Marietta GA on 08/08/2008 Cons: Leaky Valve, Poor Construction What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I like the concept of the squeeze bottle water filter but try another brand. The quality of the plastic used will not support the amount of pressure required to push water through the filter and therefore it leaks like a sieve.
By jaimers from Durango, Colorado on 08/06/2008 Pros: Easy To Refill, Good Water Flow, Stable Best Uses: Commuting, Day Trips, Extended Hikes, Travel Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I love this product. Its perfect for day hikes along mountain streams and so so easy to use. Plus it is only [$] and it works for 450 refills. it is well worth your money. Great for short backpacking trips

Wanted more...doubts about new filter??? By CoyoteSong from Moran, WY on 07/26/2008 Best Uses: Day Trips, Extended Hikes Describe Yourself: Professional Guide What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am a wilderness manager and have carried one in my saddlebags for about 7 years. I have two of the older models because I bought another for a back up for WHEN I lose the other :-)
Fits nicely in my saddle bags or backpack. Water is plentiful where I work so the capacity isn't a problem. Stop at a decent creek and voile! more water. My co-worker, who cares a regular filter, was admiring it today. When I said I was thinking about getting another spare, he asked me to get him one too. BUT, after reading some of the reviews about a new filter I think I'll wait until I swing by Cody to check what the fuss is about???
great filtration system for the price By reluctant summit hiker from Boston, MA on 07/23/2008 Pros: Easy To Refill, Good Water Flow Best Uses: Day Trips, Extended Hikes Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is the best price I could find on anything that claims to filter giardia and cryptosporidia. This item saves weight on White Mountain backcountry hikes that are along a clean stream, but there's a .5% chance of organisms. Better even than the "emergency" pills (most are not guaranteed effective against crypto).
Yes, it can be tough to start the flow, but if you unsquish the filter straw before squeezing the bottle, it's not tough overall.
We bought 2 already.
Convenient water filtration By pat in Africa from NJ on 07/18/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Refill Best Uses: Day Trips, Extended Hikes, Travel Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Used for travel in African countries and villages with various degrees of water filtration infrastructure. Convenient and easy to use.
By Gary C. from Lancaster, CA on 07/17/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Refill, Good Water Flow, Large Capacity Best Uses: Day Trips, Extended Hikes Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These bottles are a great value. I have not seen anything that compares for the price. I gave it a rateing of 4 stars because the newer models have a filter that is seperate from the lid which is differnent from the earlier ones. I much preferred the early models where the filter and cap were used as one piece.
It helped but after ten days it failed By wes from MPLS, MN on 07/13/2008 Pros: Compact, Easy To Refill Cons: Filter broke twice, Unstable Best Uses: Day Trips, Not the best for extended Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Great bottle, just disappointed with the construction of the filter, broke twice,.
DANGEROUS! DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! By Concerned Pop from Nevada City, California on 07/09/2008 Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought 4 of these for my kids for a Yosemite backpacking trip. The filter on all four repeatedly slipped off the spout, allowing cryptosporidium, Giardia and other contaminants to be ingested. There is no way to know if the filter is on or off until you refill. This product is dangerous, and should not be used to filter water. It should not be sold.
I would buy this product again By Big One from Pullman, WA on 06/12/2008 Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am not sure if the bottle will leak. I bought the two bottles because my wife and I like to go on long trail hikes in the summer, and there are streams along the way. I hope it works as well it is supposed to and doesn't leak in our backpacks.
