National Geographic

On January 27, 1888, 33 explorers and scientists organized a society “for the increase and diffusion of geographical knowledge”. The world may have changed dramatically during the last century, but The National Geographic Society has remained a prestigious constant in a world hungry for knowledge. From cartography to photography, National Geographic has no equal in bringing the fruits of its explorations into the palms of our hands… through its esteemed magazine, award-winning television programming, and interactive maps and CD’s that allow you plan your vacations and trail adventures using elaborate topographic maps that profile elevation and distance.

This book is one of the best out there. It is very detailed and will come in handy for my trip to Barcelona. These books give a lot of information and they are almost as good as my favorite, Eyewitness Guides.

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
My boyfriend is currently in Iraq and I bought this for him to mark and send home to his children. It's a great educational tool and gives them a common reference point when their dad talks/writes to them. Would recommend as a gift to any deployed [to Iraq] parent and their kids to offer an additional way for them to "connect" and educate the kids at the same time.
