Giro

Giro

Giro is a household name for road bike, mountain bike, multisport, snowboard and ski helmets. Giro helmets are built to protect the noggins of novice to elite athletes and are available at a range of price points. Giro road cycling helmets are some of the most technologically advanced and are extra-ventilated for those thigh-burning hill climbs. Giro’s versatile mountain bike, multisport, ski and snowboard helmets come either heavy-duty or low-profile in design, and all of their helmets offer lightweight, protective in-mold construction. Look for added helmet features like simple twist-knob adjustment and built-in audio systems. And did you know that Giro also produces sleek sunglasses and goggles?

Lightweight and fits well. Has extra padding to add to helmet if you find it is a little big. I bought these in size small for my 2 boys aged 10 & 7 and they fit great. Should work well while skiing. They love the flame design on the sides.

My husband bought this helmet for my birthday. It's fabulous!! I haven't been able to test it out on the slopes, due to the lack of snow, but that will change very soon. I love the fact that it's lighter and more comfortable than my mountain biking helmet - which is also a Giro and pretty lightweight and comfy itself. The closable air vents are great for spring skiing, and the ability to dial in the fit is awesome. I believe that I will feel very well-protected and comfortable in this helmet.

Giro Omen Snowsport Helmet - SkullCandy Audio System (For Men and Women)

Another Winner from Giro
By Powder SkierVerified Reviewer from Colorado Mountains on 10/30/2009
Pros:
Comfortable, Durable, Easily Adjustable, Protective, Well Ventilated
Cons:
Not LG phone-compatible
Best Uses:
Skiing, Snowboarding
Describe Yourself:
Advanced
Sizing:
Feels true to size
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
I got this Omen to replace my Giro Nine.9 helmet, which received a lot of knocks from low branches after 3 seasons of skiing in the trees. The Omen looks like military-grade equipment, and should provide superior protection. The Omen fits even better than my old helmet, and the adjustment knob in the back really makes a custom fit quick and accurate. The trick sliding vent controls are a plus. With a more durable shell than my old helmet, this one is definitely heavier, but it still feels pretty light...we'll see once ski season has started. The audio system headphone jack is not as accessible as on my old helmet, but then it might be less accessible for snow to get in, too. Comes with many adapters for lots of different cell phones, but the system doesn't work with my LG phone :-(.

My kids have to wear helmets when on the ski hill.Usually there's a fuss since they consider this uncool. When the helmet arrived, there was a fuss over who got to wear it. Another one is on order so everyone will be safe. The kids thought the design and color were cool enough for them. Thanks for supporting head injury prevention!

Comments:
Bought this for my son. He really likes it. Fits well and comes with different thickness padding for a more custom fit. I prefer the type of adjustments that just click in place at the back of the helmet, but for the price its fine, and it was very easy to replace the pads. Doesn't have any vent plugs for those really cold days but there's enough room were he could wear a balaclava if needed.

I am an intermediate skiier and never believed that I needed a helmet until last season when I fell and hit my head very hard. I decided that was the last time I was skiing without a helmet and wore a bike helmet for the rest of last season. Wanting to be a bit more stylish, I bought this helmet this year and it seems to be just what I need. I would perfer a dark color but that is not a defect of the product. It fits well and appears very durable. I don't wear goggles but someone who does might want to know that it does not look like goggles would fit over the helmet, although there is a strap in the back to hold them.

Giro Sedona Bike Helmet

Strange Fit
By bixdogVerified Reviewer from Woodland Hills, CA on 10/25/2009
Pros:
Good looking, Good ventilation, Lightweight
Cons:
Poor fit
Best Uses:
Everyday riding, Warm Weather
Describe Yourself:
Casual/ Recreational
Sizing:
Feels full size too small
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
While the helmet seemed well made and up to the usual standards for a Giro product, I found the fit to be completely odd. I usually wear a size small (Giro's 'youth' size fits almost perfectly, just a tiny bit too snug) so I wasn't expecting the goofy 'bowl-cut' fit of this helmet. It fit well in circumference but was much too short in the crown; there was easily an inch of space between the tops of my ears and the bottom of the helmet. The fit might be fine for someone more petite proportionally (I'm 5'6"), but I needed to return it. Fit aside, it's a really nice looking, understated helmet without a lot of graphics and other hoo-ha (I ordered it in black.) Yes, I would recommend this to a friend... if that friend had an unusually tiny head.

This is my first helmet, but as I am a fast aggressive skier, I felt it was time - adjustable vents, excellent quality and fit options make this a real bargain - using the sizing guide the fit was perfect. And the lavender turned out to be an OK color!
