Ultimate in lightweight DH protection By Sasquatch in the Wasatch from Cooter Holler, Georgia on 10/08/2009 Pros: Dope graphics are legit, Durable, Goggle friendly, Good ventilation, Light mounts easily, Lightweight, Nice fit system/pads Cons: Ventilation is just good Best Uses: AM-DH Mountain Biking, BMX, Cold-weather riding, Dirtboarding Describe Yourself: Avid Cyclist Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: To help folks with fitment, I usually wear a small Giro in their conventional XC helmets. But using their fit guide, I'm technically a medium, but just barely at 56cm/22". The upper portion of the helmet that surrounds your head fits just like a typical XC in the Giro line but the cheek pads are a bit tight. Giro offers these in three thicknesses to fine tune the fit. 30mm is standard, and they also offer a 25mm and a 35mm.
Overall, a great helmet, with plenty of strength for such a light weight, while still offering a decent amount of ventilation. You need to be realistic about the ventilation though. While it doesn't flow air like a roadie lid, it offers much, much more protection. FYI, my small weighs 2lbs 5oz, so if you went with the more expensive carbon fiber model, you'd only save ~5oz. Also, you can easily remove the visor and strap a light to the top where the front vents are, so you can still do midnight bombing runs without sacrificing FF protection.

By VTbiker from Vermont on 09/29/2009 Pros: Convenient back-of-head adjustment, Good ventilation Best Uses: Everyday riding, Mountain biking Describe Yourself: Avid Cyclist Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: It's tough to buy a helmet without trying it on. The features and adjustments are nice but this model just did not fit me very well. I ended up returning this helmet and bought a Giro Phase helmet instead. The Phase just felt more comfortable for me.
