Beautiful Blazer for a Great Price By Tim from Boston on 04/28/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Versatile Best Uses: Casual Wear, Going Out, Office, Office Meetings Describe Yourself: Classic, Practical, Stylish Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too short Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I agree that the sizing is a bit small, but I had my tailor do a quick alteration on the sleeve length and it is perfect. Jacket length is a tad short, but I think that is a convenient fit to the fashion of the day. I love this product.
By dead eye from hampton falls nh on 04/21/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable Best Uses: Casual Wear, Going Out, Travel Describe Yourself: Classic, High-end shopper Chest Size: Feels too small Sleeve Length: Feels too short Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: elegantly casual
By FrogDog from Nashville, TN on 04/17/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable Best Uses: Formal Occasions, Office Describe Yourself: Conservative, Practical Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too short Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a well-constructed plain black suit that will pull duty all year round. The fabric is not exceptionally light-weight, but is quite stretchy and comfortable. My tailor described the fabric as "sponge-like" (note the spandex and nylon content) but it looks like any other black wool suit.
The sleeves were just long enough; in my normal size I usually have to take in the sleeves, but not with this suit.
By Craig from Syracuse, NY on 04/02/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Durable, Lightweight, Versatile, Warm Cons: Sleeves too short I'm6'4" Describe Yourself: Bargain Shopper, Casual, Eclectic Sizing: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Sleeves were too short for my 6'4" frame, but I'm having them lengthened.
They must have been short on material!!! By Tucker from Florida on 03/28/2008 Pros: Nice coat if cut as usual Cons: They skimped on fabric Describe Yourself: Classic, Practical Chest Size: Feels too small Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This would have been a nice blazer except for the fact it is cut unusually small when compared to other 44R Southwicks I own!
By Cognitive Bill from Pittsburgh, PA on 03/27/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, beautiful jacket, Versatile Best Uses: Casual Wear, Going Out, Office, Office Meetings Describe Yourself: Practical, Stylish Chest Size: Feels too small Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels too short Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Beautiful jacket but too small in sleeves and across shoulders. Maybe it's the brand that runs small. I wish it would have fit. It would have been an excellent compliment to my closet.
Virtually indistinguishable from black By Chris from Bethesda, MD on 03/25/2008 Describe Yourself: High-end shopper, Stylish Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This was a nice if uninspiring suit, but the "navy blue" was virtually indistinguishable from black, and I don't need another black suit, so I returned it for a refund. This was a rare miss for Southwick, in my estimation. I own three other suits from them, and love them all.
One note: To me, the pants run a bit small in the waist. This is good for me, since I normally wear 42R coat and 34 pants, but if you're expecting a true 36 in the pants, you might need to have a tailor let them out a bit.
Beautiful cloth, beautiful suit By Chris from Bethesda, MD on 03/25/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Well made Cons: Doesn't "drape" well Best Uses: Church, Office Meetings Describe Yourself: High-end shopper, Stylish Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Beautiful suit and beautiful cloth that got some very admiring looks when I took it in to my tailor for finishing. Just FYI, this suit is flannel, so perhaps a bit too heavy for summer wear, and more body/structure than many suit fabrics that are popular today. A bit on the formal side, perfect for a wedding or Easter church service. Sleaves came unfinished, so expect to pay for more than hemming the pants.
For me, the 36 paints fit more like 34's from other dept. store designers.
