By willow tree from New England on 10/19/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Stylish Best Uses: Casual Wear, Commuting, Evening, Winter Autumn Skiing Describe Yourself: Casual, Comfort-oriented, High Quality, Practical, Stylish Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This hat is so adorable in person! It is unique, yet classic enough that it goes with most of my coats. I love this hat!
It's very warm and soft, with a perfect fit. The styling is subtle, but adds a lot to the hat.
Just know that even though this is black in color, it has a slight charcoal gray color to it. It is definitely more black than charcoal grey, but it is not a 100% true black, if you are trying to match it with black gloves or mittens. I will be able to find gloves or mittens to match it easily enough, but if you like your gloves and hats to match perfectly, then I would recommending purchasing this hat first and then matching and purchasing gloves to go with the hat, in person at a store.
By Tiggywinkle from Montana on 10/15/2009 Pros: Breathable, Durable, Stylish, Warm, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Best Uses: Backcountry, Downhill Describe Yourself: Advanced Chest Size: Feels true to size Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Love the color and design. The jacket is really warm and has some cool features e.g. i-pod pocket
By chair2chair from New York, NY on 10/09/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfort, Comfortable, Durable, Function, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm Best Uses: Extreme Conditions, Skiingsnowboarding, Urban Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: i have always found snowboard clothing to be more functional and comfortable than ski clothing as a long time expert skiier. even the helmets. bonfire is a textbook example of why and this down "snowboard" jacket i bought for everyday use in suburban nyc is no exception. i wear thier pants on the hill and the down jacket wil make it up there im sure. bonfire kills burton. volkom comes in at a not-too-distant second, they are good too. this jacket cost about a third of my cloudveil which is sufficent but nothing like a bonfire. bonfire feels like u r wearing pajamas and all the gaitors and seals and everything (pokets, skirts)the offset zipper...are miles above the rest. everything is just right.
By Bakerskibum16 from Bellingham, WA on 10/05/2009 Best Uses: Backcountry, Downhill Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Chest Size: Feels true to size Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This jacket is a lot warmer and more insulated than you would think. It fits well, and there are tons of handy pockets. As far as sizing, I would say it's pretty true to size. A little bit shorter than most snowboard jackets I've owned, but I am a skier so if I can avoid looking like a punk, the better. Overall a steal on a really nice jacket.
Bonfire Aero Snowboard Jacket By healingarizona from Northern Arizona on 09/30/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Stylish, Warm Best Uses: Skiing/Snowboarding Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
By Matt from Australia on 09/24/2009 Pros: Breathable, Great Features, Waterproof, Wind Resistant Cons: Hood doesn't stow, Too many pockets Describe Yourself: Advanced Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I'm tall (6'4") and slim and ordered XL. The sleeve length is great, good cuffs. The jacket is cut well, but still enough room to fit an entire lined soft shell underneath- plenty of room for layering. The powder skirt isn't adjustable and is too big for me, but this is normal due to my size- easy modification. There are press studs for interface (I guess with Bonfire pants). The Goretex material is very flexible and the jacket packs down very tight. Olive color looks darker and better than in the picture, the pattern is not as prominent as it looks in the picture.
The hood doesn't stow! They should've left off the army-style shoulder straps and put in a press stud to secure the hood when you're not using it. It is big enough to wear over a helmet, and has velcro straps to secure it to your goggle strap. Very cool. This jacket also comes with a free Transworld subscription on the tag (for those in the US).
The zips are good quality. The arm vents are huge and zip almost all the way along the arm. The pockets are good too, lots of space. While I wish there were only a couple of external pockets, the main ones have a side entry separate section for hand warming. Inside the main pockets are the toggles for the waist of the jacket. One of the best things about this jacket isn't even mentioned in the description- there is a clip off balaclava that hides in pocket behind your neck! Very warm, great feature.
I'm really nitpicking and hope my review doesn't sound too negative, this is a fantastic jacket, but not quite perfect. If there was a 4.5 star rating, I'd give it. If you always use a hood, you'll probably rate it as 5.0.
