By likesearthtones from durham, nc on 09/25/2008 Describe Yourself: Long-Time Pet Owner Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Wow! I should have returned this back to Overstock, but basically it was not worth the time or effort. The water leaked out slowly all over the floor. Complete waste of money!
Even the neighbors love it By Mamma in WA from Selah, WA on 09/22/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Convenient Best Uses: Porch patio deck Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I got this as a birthday gift several years ago and we all love it. Have taken several afternoon naps in it in the warm sunshine. Even my neighbors like to come over and chat from the comfort of my chair. Not easy for kids to get out of so be aware.
By Lab Lover from Atlanta, GA on 09/21/2008 Describe Yourself: Professional Pet Trainer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: We used this product for traveling between GA, where we currently reside, and VT, where we are from. With our 15 month lab in tow, we have spent a couple weeks using this product while at my parents' house. This kennel is used for travel purposes only as we have a standard kennel at our house. This product has worked very well for it's intended purpose, to be used as a short term, traveling kennel.
By Super Shopper from Framingham MA on 09/21/2008 Cons: Not Durable, Weathers Quickly Best Uses: Backyard, Relaxation Describe Yourself: Midrange Shopper Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This hammock molded within weeks of putting it up and broke after one year's use--which is not that many uses--probably 15 uses.
By Hiker chick from Cambridge, MA on 09/13/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Easy Set Up Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Was looking to replace a 2-person hammock to hang between our back porch supports. This one was long, in fact the perfect length for my space. It hangs up high now, with no need for additional ropes. Easy! I'm sure it will stretch out and sag to normal height, since that's to be expected of cotton rope. The ropes and knots are not flawless, but they are good and soft, with decent quality. Nice end bars too. I'm very happy to have it.
Worked out great at a festival! By Wildjuan from Loleta CA on 09/13/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Set Up, Lightweight, Sturdy Best Uses: Beach, Festival Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Took this to Reggae Rising Music Festival and used it as our home base. It provided a good meeting place for the kids and adults and was easy to see in the crowd. Nice for the shade and very easy to carry in and out and set up for a multiple day event. Jah Mon!!!!
Perfect for Beach Getaways! By nycgeekgirl from New York, NY on 09/07/2008 Pros: Comfortable, Compact, Durable, Easy to pack, Good venting, Lightweight What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: We used this to go on vacation to St. Lucia. Needed something that was lightweight and non-bulky, so that we could pack it easily. Was a super buy, and we used it heavily. Buy this if you want to travel lightly to the beach.
By Suz from Santa Cruz on 09/07/2008 Pros: Easily Cleaned, Easy To Assemble, Lightweight, Stows Easily Describe Yourself: Long-Time Pet Owner Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: My dog usually uses a blanket for a bed, so this is her first "real" dog bed. It's basically a small comforter like you would put on your bed, but she loves it and won't sleep anywhere else! It's pretty compact and comes with a storage bag. The fleece side will be nice in winter, but will probably be permanently covered in dog fur.
By Lounger1 from Sacramento, CA on 09/07/2008 Comments: The rope was very stretchy and I couldn't get it in a comfortable position. I returned it. Some of the ropes on the ends were twisted.
By Grey owner from Seattle, WA on 09/06/2008 Pros: Attractive Design, Soft, Stores Easily Best Uses: Indoors, Large Pets, Outdoors, Travel Describe Yourself: Long-time Pet Owner Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this bed for traveling with my greyhound, but the minute I un-bagged it and tossed it onto the floor, he made a beeline for it and settled in.
The bed is adequate in size for the dog (my greyhound weighs 70 lb) and the bed fits its stuff sack nicely. I got the one marked "round" which turns out to be kind of a dark mushroom color on the fleece side, a bit darker than expected. That fabric is nice. The nylon side is kind of slippery, as others have noted.
I agree that this bed would benefit from having a bit more cushioning between the channel stitching. Then again, that would add to the bulk, making it less convenient to store or take along.
The first trip we made with the travel bed in tow, I discovered that our hosts had a "guest dog bed." It was no contest--my dog went straight for the thicker bed!
Note that the instructions say to line dry, not machine dry. I suspect the filling would lump up in the dryer if dried with heat.
