Great Multi-Terrain Boots By Jusco from Honolulu, HI on 07/01/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Flexible, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Cons: Treads Catch on Rocks Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Light Loads, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Hiker Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I used these boots on a trip to Kauai in anticipation of slippery conditions and they didn't disappoint. The treads are deep so they grip well in wet conditions. Ankle support is great without feeling overly cumbersome. There's virtually no break-in time so you can use them straight out of the box. Waterproofing works perfectly, they're nice and light, and they grip well - it's hard to find something bad to say about them.
The only slight problem I found was that they can be a bit slippery when crossing streams (which is to be expected) and if you're climbing around on rocks the deep treads can catch sometimes.
These are great boots and I am very pleased with them.
Comfortable on trail and snow By enf from SF Bay Area on 06/29/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Good Traction, Warm, Waterproof Best Uses: Slippery Terrain, Snow Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I just used these boots for the first time on Mt. Shasta. Yes, I did not even break them in. I thought they might be too rigid for simple trail hiking but they were comfortable. On the snow and ice, they were cozy, warm, and watertight. They were fine with crampon usage. Overall a great mountaineering boot. And I got compliments about the blue color.

By Burly Bertha from Arcata, CA on 06/11/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable Describe Yourself: Environmentalist, Professional, Recreational Watersporter Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I got these boots used at an outdoor consignment shop, having no idea how awesome they would be. Perfect fit for my very flat feet. I tend to like wider toe boxes and these are also perfect for that. I am a woman and have never liked women's shoes. Almost completely waterproof, though after 5 days of rain and slush, moisture did get through. They respond well to leather waterproofing treatment. I have no idea how long they were used before I got them, but they're going strong after 4 years of my abuse. Just a little leather/sole separation at the toe.

By MDC from SLC from Salt Lake City, UT on 05/31/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Durable, Great Traction, Stable Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday, Scrambling on rock Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Sizing: Feels true to size Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've found this shoe to be very comfortable and sure footed on asphalt, cement, and rocks with very little movement of the heel. The shoe feels slightly smaller than other AKU's, but in comparing the insoles I found no difference in length or width. The shoe is much snugger than most shoes which is consistent with it being an "approach" shoe. The lacing system is excellent and the heel lock really works. I now own five different models of AKU's and the more I wear them the more appreciation I have for them. They are extremely functional shoes and the workmanship is spot on.
