great boots for summer or winter By pywhacket from Edmonton, AB (Canada) on 05/09/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Warm, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: My husbamd and I both bought these boots last summer before a camping trip. We didn't even break them in before we went, but our major full-day hike was blister-free. At New Year's, we took a trip to hike a frozen canyon floor, and the boots were just as durable and comfortable in the cold weather as in the heat.
By JennT from Miami, FL on 04/29/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable Best Uses: Harsh Terrain, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Professional/Guide Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I really like this boot. Love Love Love the single sided tongue--it really prevents the sideways tongue wagging show! The only thing I'd change about the boot is the height. It's about one inch too short for me. Otherwise, great great boot!

By Jenny from Greensboro, NC/Elk Lake, Ontario on 04/24/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Sturdy/Durable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Love the look of the boot, as well as the fit. Nice arch support, fits perfectly (true to size) with enough room for heavier hiking socks. Comes up higher on the ankle than some other boots I have, so it took a little getting used to. But it is nice to have the extra ankle support. Very good boots, especially for the price!

I have tried cotton and wool socks and with either there is rubbing aroud the ankles. They are pretty stip and the inside material pretty rough so maybe it wil give after more wears- I have only done 3 hikes

By MDC from SLC from Salt Lake City, UT on 04/15/2009 Pros: Ankle Support, Arch Support, Comfortable/No Break-In, Great Traction, Sturdy/Durable, Warm, Water Resistant Best Uses: Cold Weather, Day Hiking, Everyday, Harsh Terrain, Heavy Loads, Light Loads, Long-Distance Hiking, Wet Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/Recreational, Peakbagger, Ridgeclimber Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Every time I wear these boots I'm more pleased with them. Excellent traction on snowpacked trails and loose dirt trails. I've used them for scrambling up ridges in snow and hikes on snowpacked, almost icy trails, and am always surprised at how comfortable and supportive they are, and how good the traction is. A friend of mine liked his so much that he ordered a second pair. I'm starting to wish I would have also ordered another pair. I've now bought 4 different models of AKU's for myself as well as pairs for my son and my daughter. AKU's are excellent boots.
