By SassSk8r from Bethesda, MD on 06/29/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Hiking and Camping, Ice skating Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Very comfortable and lightweight. Not bulky. It's form fitting but not restrictive. I have short arms so I'm not sure if the jacket has longer than usual arms since I'm used to cuffing! I waited a long time to get this and am very pleased.
By AC from Des Moines, IA on 06/24/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Lightweight Best Uses: Outdoor Activities Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I really liked this shirt. It fits well and the fabric is great - lightweight and silky soft. However, after the first time I wore it (for a long-distance bike ride) I noticed there were 3 big snags- one in the chest and two on the arms. I don't know what caused them, but it couldn't have been much. Too bad, I would have ordered a second shirt if that hadn't happened!
By Mike from Chicago, IL on 06/23/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Lightweight Cons: Doesn't Breathe, Inadequate Protection Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Decent jacket for a budget rain protection. Breathability was okay under normal conditions and medium activity level, you will get wet from the inside under heavy activity though. It is waterproof and seams are taped but the zipper is not waterproof, nor is there an adequate storm flap. Hood tends to be a floppy, would be nice to have some more adjustment (the jacket does have cinch cords to close the hood opening).
The biggest downside is that the DWR coating was not, well, that durable. The jacket wets out quickly, especially after some use. Campfire smoke absolutely eliminated any beading and washing did not seem to bring it back.
Bottom line, get it if you can find it on sale and want something cheap but still servicable, but I'd save up for a better shell if you're concerned about staying dry in sustained bad weather.

A front kangaroo pocket would have made it near perfect.

By midwest transplant from VA on 06/12/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Cold Weather, Hiking and Camping Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer Chest Size: Feels true to size Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this to wear in Europe in February as a "mid layer" and it performed wonderfully there and beyond. It provides comfortable warmth way beyond what you'd expect from something this lightweight. While it doesn't block out wind on it's own, it's a great addition to a raincoat or looser top coat, since it hugs the body and buffers drafts. I wear it around the house when my shoulders get cold and in the office. The sleeves are long but stay in place when you push them up. I think they feel cozy. Great buy!
