Oxford Blue

Oxford Blue

Oxford, England is known the world over for its historic buildings, highly regarded university and famed rowing competitions on the river Thames. It’s an idyllic location except for one little detail… the weather… which is notoriously foggy, damp and often downright beastly. Oxford Blue is the answer to those wet, dreary days. Employing traditional waxed cotton methods that have kept watermen, farmers and urbanites warm and dry for decades, Oxford Blue’s waxed outerwear sheds water as easily as a duck. It’s also naturally breathable and wind resistant. So whether you sail the waters of Gloucester or walk the streets of Manhattan, Oxford Blue coats and hats will keep the weather out in style.

I live in Michigan, so we get a full taste of all four seasons here. I've already worn this jacket on a fishing trip to the Au Sable during some very inclement weather. I found it kept me warm and absolutely dry. I did get a little "fish slime" on the coat, but it wiped right off with a damp, soapy sponge. I'm looking forward to wearing it to Spartan stadium later this fall during football season.

Overall, the design & materials provide a durable, highly functional & good-looking 2-season(late Fall, Winter) garment. Efficient down to about 44 degrees. For temperatures down to freezing it can still function well coupled with a good sweater. Below freezing, it's time for down. Classic English styling & construction, I really like this coat.

Wore this jacket for an outdoor event with pouring rain, I was absolutely dry. Could see raindrops beading up and rolling off my arms just like a freshly waxed car. Also wore it recently for a fishing trip on the Au Sable river here in Michigan. I was concerned that it got a little "fish slimed" by a Skamania steelhead that I landed, but was very pleased when I went back to my motel and simply washed it off as the manufacturer suggested. My only complaint is the smell, but that's getting better as I've worn it more and hung it in my garage to air out.
