Suunto

Suunto

Suunto was founded in 1936 by an enthusiast of the outdoors and orienteering who wanted to design a better compass. Finnish inventor Tuomas Vohlonen wanted to improve on standard magnetic compasses by having steadier needles for better accuracy, and his success pointed everyone looking for a compass in Suunto’s direction. Over the years, Suunto has continued to create and improve upon compasses and performance watches for all sports conditions. Today, Suunto has incorporated tiny computers into its watches to monitor everything from air pressure to heartbeat. Suunto is prided on being a leading designer and manufacturer of training watches, compasses and other sports instruments for running, diving, mountaineering, skiing, sailing and golf.

Easy to read, easy to use
By newtrigirlVerified Reviewer from boise, ID on 12/09/2007
Pros:
Adjustable Watchband, Big watch face, Good manual, Good Quality
Cons:
Big watch face
Best Uses:
Everyday
Describe Yourself:
Athletic, Modern, Practical
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
This is my first HR monitor, but so far I think it's very easy to use, has alot of functions and is easy to read. I'm a very small framed woman, so the face is a little big on my arm. However, the size makes it easy to read.

Everyday watch is for workouts too
By GaryVerified Reviewer from Boulder, CO on 12/05/2007
Pros:
accurate heart rate, Adjustable Watchband, Good Quality, Reliable, Stylish
Cons:
Compass not very reliable, Heart band breaks, Setting procedure
Best Uses:
Aerobic workouts, Everyday
Describe Yourself:
Athletic
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
Don't rely on it for compass information, but for a nice watch that you can wear to aerobic workouts it is great. The watch far outlasts the heart transmitter, but it works with heart transmitters from cheaper heart monitors.

Suunto T1 Training Watch (For Men and Women)

Great buy
By KarenVerified Reviewer from Va Beach on 12/05/2007
Pros:
Adjustable Watchband, Good Quality, Stylish, Sweat friendly band
Cons:
Crystal very exposed, Very large face
Best Uses:
Workouts
Describe Yourself:
Athletic, High End Shopper, Practical, Stylish
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Comments:
The Suunto T1 is a cool sports watch, especially for the price. It's surprisingly light for the large face. I have fairly thin wrists and the face covers the entire frontside of my wrist. But it is thin-not bulky. The face is very exposed and is likely to get scratched up at some point. Also, I ordered the dark brown but it looks diff than the website--the band is like the colors (coral, olive) not like the photo. No biggie, its more breathable with the elongated holes. Very easy to read but the manual is a huge tome of info. Once read, the watch is easy enough and will get more familiar with time and use. Highly recommended.

Cons:
Complicated
Best Uses:
Everyday training runs
Describe Yourself:
Athletic

Great watch with a lot of useful functions. The watch is a bit bulky and the functions can be overwhelming (especially trying change them while running). All-in-all a great product.

Suunto X3 HR Wrist-Top Computer Watch (For Men and Women)

Quality is just not there.
By NY_Cyclist from Albany on 09/11/2007
Pros:
Adjustable Watchband, Altitude
Cons:
Altitude sensitivity, Barometric Pressure, Temperature function
Best Uses:
Everyday
Describe Yourself:
Athletic, Practical
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Comments:
This is an OK watch and heart-rate monitor but the other functions are unreliable. The temperature reading is always wrong. Alarms go off for no apparent reason. Altitude readings are not sensitive to one-meter differences and often change while standing still.
