By Backpackin' Steve from Petaluma, ca on 09/11/2007 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Load, Large Capacity Best Uses: Day Hikes, Extended Hikes, Travel Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The only minor con I can come up with is I'd like the main compartment to open just a bit wider. Then, it would be easier to completely flip open the top and stuff it full of stuff. Other than that, it's a great backpack.
By Todd from Ithaca, NY on 09/11/2007 Pros: Lightweight, Stows Easily Describe Yourself: Professional Guide Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The price is right on this bag, and it is lightweight and stuffs easily. However, that is a double edged sword: its lack of loft makes me wonder how comfortable I would be at near freezing. I think this is much more a summer bag rather than 2-3 season bag--at least I wouldn't trust it in spring or late fall without a cabin or warm house nearby to which to retreat!
Great bag! True 0 degree protection By Jason the multi-sport Dad from Lochbuie, CO on 09/11/2007 Pros: Adjustable Hood, Great Zipper System, Warm Cons: Compression Sack Needed, Heavy Best Uses: Car Camping, Cold Conditions Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer, Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I love this bag for car camping with my kids, but it is much too heavy for backpacking. Even when compressed into a stuff sack , the bag takes up too much room to strap in/on a pack. Very warm though, and a great choice for a person looking for a bag that works in cold weather at a very reasonable price.
By Pati Patagonia from Puerto Natales, Patagonia on 09/11/2007 Pros: Adjustable Hood, Lightweight, Stows Easily, Warm Best Uses: Backpacking, Cold Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: It is a great bag, I live it Patagonia and it is keeping me warm on my backpacking adventures!
Big enough for a man, made for a woman By Ben S from Seattle, WA on 09/11/2007 Pros: Lightweight, Stows Easily, Warm Best Uses: 3 Season Camping, Car Camping, Cold Conditions Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am a 6'2" 225lb male. I bought this sleeping bag accidentally not knowing it was made for a woman. I used the bag on a recent trip and although it is a little snug around the shoulders, I found that it had ample leg room. It was also extremely warm, soft and packed easily into its compact duffle bag.
By Roostabunny from Phoenix, AZ on 09/11/2007 Pros: Adequate Capacity, Attractive Design, Awesome Color, Quality Construction, Secure Design Cons: Poor Internal Layout Best Uses: Daily Commuting, Important Documents, Traveling Describe Yourself: Bag-a-holic, Bargain Shopper, Career, Gadget Freak, High-end shopper Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I've been wanting a vertical laptop bag for a while. I started commuting to work on a motorcycle recently and my standard bag just felt too wide on the bike. This one feels great, and I think it looks stylish walking around.
The laptop compartment is great - a little narrow for my extended battery, but perfect for a standard battery. The dedicated zipper is helpful at the airport, and I love the unique color and hardware.
I put "internal layout" as a con because the front pockets are flat and layered with the flap pocket, so they all tend to stack up with gadgets and feel too tight. What looks like a cell pocket on the side is so tight I can't imaging fitting aything bigger than an iPod nano or similar, so I put my huge cell phone in the water bottle pocket and it fits perfect. Meanwhile, the main compartment has file dividers, but no smaller pockets, so my power brick, travel mouse, and other bulky things just pile up in there.
I found it awkward to use at first, but I'm settling into where I want things to go. New bag learning curve?
Either way, it's solid, looks good, and protects my lappie. A definite keeper.
By Tahoefan from Philadelphia on 09/11/2007 Pros: Comfortable, Easy To Load, Highly Adjustable, Large Capacity Cons: Heavy, little on the heavy side Best Uses: Extended Hikes, Heavy Loads, Travel Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Nice pack for hauling lots of gear. Travel and hiking. Very comfortable under load!
By Bob from Russell, Ohio on 09/11/2007 Pros: Compact, Lightweight Cons: Too small for an SUV Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This is fine for what it is, but really doesn't suit my purposes as well as I hoped. I tried to buy the size large Carport, but they were out of stock, so I settled for this. It brely works on the side of an SUV or minivan, but would be fine on a Subaru Outback. I will keep it because we have both vehicles, but this trip to Utah we are hauling a lot of stuff to my son, and the minivan has to make the trip. We'll make it due.
Impressive tent for the money By Erdeman from Seattle, WA on 09/11/2007 Pros: Comfortable, Easy to set up, Fly Works Well Best Uses: Canoeing, Car Camping Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I am an outdoor junkie with 5 tents. So why get another? It is much roomier than all my backpacking tents. I don't mind the weight because it is for car camping and canoeing While I can't stand upright all the way, I can stand up enough to get dressed easily. Now do that in a bivvy bag!
