By sierra friend from western PA on 02/27/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Flattering, Great Color, Soft, Stylish, Versatile Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Chest Size: Feels true to size Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: Everything about this sweater was fine, except for the zipper which separated from the bottom up. It was initially difficult to zip, but I thought all was well until I noticed that it had come apart. I called Sierra about the problem, and sent it back. Unfortunately, there were none left to replace it. But it was a lovely sweater.
By tallulah from Minnesota on 02/25/2009 Pros: Great Color, Stylish, Warm Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Chest Size: Feels true to size Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: The pattern of this cardigan is absolutely gorgeous. I got the brown/black color combination, and am very pleased with it. I was unsure of what size to order, since I wanted the ability to layer something light under it yet didn't want it too boxy or loose. I ordered my usual size M, and it worked out well.

By kf from pa on 02/25/2009 Pros: Attractive Design, Comfortable, Good Cut Best Uses: Outdoor Activities Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Sleeve Length: Feels too short Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this sweater for a ski layer. I tried it on at a ski resort in a small (my usual size) and couldn't zip it shut and the sleeves were way too short. It took me awhile to find it on the internet, but I bought a large and it fits perfect--allows me to put one or 2 thin layers under without looking like a sausage, but can wear alone without looking like it's too big. The windbreaker liner is nice, but doesn't stop really strong winds from coming through. I used to wear 5-6 shirts for skiing and since buying this now only wear 2-3 layers(this sweater is one). I actually got hot one day of skiing. Super warm and could also wear to go out in.
One con noted: The zip cord for the neck broke the first time I went to tighten it. I didn't have time to exchange it before my trip, but it is an easy repair...just a few stitches as it was only the anchoring end that ripped off, not the part of the cord that threads all the way through the sweater.
By The Dog Trainer from Chester, New Jersey on 02/24/2009 Pros: Breathable, Comfortable, High Quality, Stylish, Versatile, Warm Best Uses: Casual Wear, Everyday Describe Yourself: Comfort-oriented, Practical Chest Size: Feels true to size Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels too long Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: This sweater is lined and wonderfully warm. The wind stop inner fabric is a real plus. The style is attractive as well. The elbow patches and wrist patches (to extend wearability) do not stand out...just the way I like 'em!
By A Sierra Trader from MidAtlantic on 02/24/2009 Pros: Flattering, Great Color, Stylish, Versatile Best Uses: Casual Wear, Night Out, Special Occasions, Wear To Work Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Chest Size: Feels too small Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: This is a handsome sweater, but it runs amazingly small. If you want this sweater, then consider ordering a size or two larger than you normally do.
By New customer from Burlington VT on 02/23/2009 Pros: Great Color, Stylish Describe Yourself: Classic Dresser Chest Size: Feels true to size Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Very nice sweater but the upper arms were too tight for me. Otherwise, it fit fine, true to size. Had to return it.
By gmikek from decatur, ga on 02/23/2009 Pros: Stylish, Versatile, Very good ski sweater, Warm Cons: Color Not As Expected, Neck fabric seem not sewn, Sent the wrong color, Tight arm pits, Tight chest, White thrds on black Best Uses: Casual Wear, Skiing Describe Yourself: Classic, Comfort-oriented, Practical, Quality Counts Chest Size: Feels too small Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I really like the sweater even though I ordered grey and received red. It's classic and I like nordic wool for skiing. However, I think the sweater was a previously returned item since it contained flaws in the neck seem, white threads interwoven in the black wool threads and was not in the correctly labeled bag. I have fixed all of the flaws which would have made this item a second but apparently made it through quality control.
Also I feel the cut across the chest and the underarm are somewhat snug and restrictive and so I sized up and it was still tight. Something the manufacturer should know. Perhaps it was large but marked XL.
Icewear Nordkapp Sweater Review: By JA the review meister from New Hampshire on 02/23/2009 Pros: Comfortable, Stylish, Warm Cons: Doesn't Breathe, Itchy Material, Poor Construction Best Uses: Casual Wear, Winter Sporting Describe Yourself: Classic, Comfort-oriented, High-end shopper, Practical, Stylish, Trendy Chest Size: Feels too small Length: Feels true to length Sleeve Length: Feels too short Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I own numerous Norwegian style sweaters from Dale of Norway, Volund, & Disegnia D'Italia. In my humble opinion, this Icewear (formerly Norwear version) sweater although beautiful in design, lacks the Quality, Fit and Finish of its competitors. Several factors indicate this to be true in my case:
First, the yarn quality is poor/thin. Even though the sweater was NEW with Tags and sealed in a bag; there were pieces of grass/hay (YES GRASS/HAY!!!) spun into the wool yarn. I guess that gives it a real earthy feel.
Second, in various locations on the sweater, you can easily notice where one strand of yard when it ran out was tied in a knot to a new piece of yarn, and the loose ends are sticking out! One of these knots was even loose!!!
Third, the liner of this sweater was stretchy. Unlike the Windstopper liner of the Dale of Norway Sport sweaters, this liner seemed to ketch onto my body when taking it off. This doesn't sound bad until you hear the POP and SNAP of the stitching that secures the liner to the interior neck area of the sweater. The sweater and liner began to separate the first time I took it off.
Fourth, the zippers were rough and ketchy.
Fifth, and MOST detracting from the sweater was the way in which the left sleeve was attached to the left liner/cuff. The interior liner was sewn twisted onto the exterior of the sweater. This made getting my hand through the sleeve almost impossible, and very uncomfortable. Also the patch at the wrist of the left exterior sleeve was sewn in the wrong part/misaligned to the cuff of the wrist. It didn't line up properly as it did on the right sleeve.
The Icewear sweaters are made in China. Although Icewear tried to make a good rendition of a Norwegian sweater, the finished product feels like a cheap knockoff! Spend a little more money, let the Norwegians do the knitting, and buy a quality sweater that will last many generations (DALE OF NORWAY, hint, hint!!!)
Pretty, but poor fit for me By Jen from Pacific Palisades on 02/21/2009 Cons: Poor Fit, Sharp buttons, Small buttonholes, Too Short Best Uses: Casual Wear, Wear To Work Describe Yourself: Casual Dresser Chest Size: Feels too small Sleeve Length: Feels true to length Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: I would have loved to keep this sweater at my office for when it gets cold there, but it was too short in the body (landed just above the waist on me) and felt too scratchy. Also, the cut is rather boxy, which is probably a function of it being short. Also, the button holes are a bit too small for the buttons; you really have to force the buttons through. But, also unfortunately, the buttons are sort of sharp around the edges so forcing them through the holes hurts the fingertips! And I'm not just being wimpy.
