By Hiking the Suburbs from Chicago, IL on 12/12/2007 Pros: Comfortable, Water Resistant Best Uses: Day hikes, Everyday Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Sizing: Feels full size too small Width: Feels true to width Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I bought this boot because my REI Spirit boots by Raichle from 10 years ago were too small, and the new ones they make were a bit too rigid. i am usually a size twelve or thirteen (my Birkenstock dress shoes are a 46), which i think is like a 12 and a half. i tried the thirteen with the Asolo and it was too small. this was the first time i have ever worn a pair of 14s and they fit. Especially with a thick sock. The more i wear them the better they get. I have only used them to shovel the driveway and go sledding with my four year old, but i am very happy. you can wear them everywhere. hiking or to the store. they also give me good support with my 2 year old in the backpack carrier. I have only had them for about 2 weeks but look forward to whenever i get to put them on. i read they have virtually no break in period and they are right. they are very light, yet they provide great support. the soles are slippery on ice. The boot is very rugged, heavy and large. Ive had my boots for two weeks and have worn them approx 10 times. It's going to take time to breakin these boots - I havent had any blisters.
