By GG from Ann Arbor, MI on 10/27/2009 Cons: Not Breathable, Some bulk Describe Yourself: Casual/ Recreational Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Sizing: Feels true to size Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: These gloves are warmer than I expected, which is great! They are sort of bulky, but I can still use them while riding my bike. They feel windproof while walking around etc, but I can feel the wind when I'm on my bike.
Excellent Adjusting Mechanism By Caveman from Richmond, Vermont on 10/27/2009 Pros: Durable, Good Precision, Good Stiffness Describe Yourself: Advanced Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: I will use these poles for backcountry/mountain snowshoeing. My current poles have a twist lock mechanism for adjusting length. On the seriously cold days the twist locks often fail to allow adequate tightening and therefore slippage can occur. The komperdell's "Powerlock" mechanism is a pleasant surprise. It is easy to use and locks down well. I am pleased with everything about the poles, grips, material, locking mech are all top notch.
Nonfunctional in Cold Weather By Roadeagl from Pittsburgh on 10/26/2009 Cons: Collapses Too Easily Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: No, I would not recommend this to a friend Comments: The poles worked great in my 70-degree living room but on the first hike on a sub-freezing day in the WVA mountains, they absolutely wouldn't stay locked. This was a major disappointment.
Great Basic Pole Set with Cork Grips By Eric "The Red" from Hercules, CA on 10/26/2009 Pros: Good grips, Lightweight, Strong Best Uses: Backpacking, Day trip, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Bought these poles as a backup pair because they were a good deal and the old poles I had didn't have cork grips. Plus, these poles didn't have the shock absorbers which made them fairly lightweight for an aluminum pole. The Komperdell locks have always worked well for me (after 7-8 years using my original Komperdell poles) and are easily adjustable. Only change I would have liked would have been a carbide tip instead of a steel tip, but when it wears out, I can replace it with carbide.
For the price I paid and the weight of these poles (and the simplicity), I think they will serve me well for years to come and would recommend them.
Thin Material. Nice and warm By Skier from Colorado Mountains on 10/25/2009 Pros: Breathable, Dries Easily, Good Fit, Good Protection, Warm Best Uses: Backcountry, Downhill, Freestyle Describe Yourself: Advanced Gear Usage: Cold Weather Living, Winter Sports Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Material is very thin, soft and warm. Easily fits in your pocket and can be put on as needed. So many similar products are bulky. This fits nicely under a ski helmet for those very cold days.
Retro Look with Modern Materials By Mike in Ned from Nederland, CO on 10/25/2009 Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: Looks like bamboo poles of days gone by but are tough, modern carbon.
By JEWDYSSEOS from MURFREESBORO, TN on 10/22/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Good grips, Lightweight, Strong Best Uses: Day trip, Hiking Describe Yourself: Casual Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Minimalist Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS KOMPERDELL WALKING CANE WITH CORK HANDLE IS HIGH QUALITY, AMAZINGLY LIGHT AND STRONG. I DID HAVE TO REMOVE THE STRAP (NO SWEAT) AND BUY A RUBBER TIP (ON SALE FROM SIERRA) FOR IT SINCE I WALK MY NEIGHBORHOOD AND SPEND MOST OF MY TIME ON SIDEWALKS AND STREETS. BEING A CANCER PATIENT ON CHEMO, I GO THROUGH PERIODS WHEN I'M REALLY FATIGUED. THIS CANE IS SO LIGHT AND STRONG, I DON'T EVEN NEED TO CHANGE HANDS.

Poles are good for weak knees! By The flower lady from Portland Oregon on 10/22/2009 Pros: Easy to adjust, Good grips, Lightweight, Strong Best Uses: Backpacking, Day trip, Hiking Describe Yourself: Avid Adventurer What Is Your Gear Style: Comfort Driven Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend Comments: After happily having used Komperdell poles for the past twenty years, I bought this particular set for my daughter, who has knee problems but still loves to hike. I have had the exact same pair for at least five years, and find that using them on steep downhill trails eases the pressure on both my (metal replacement) knees. I use them for hiking, snowshoeing, and for cross-country skiing. I appreciate being able to adjust the length according to the use. And I love that they telescope down to a size that I can carry in my pack, if I wish. And, an added bonus is that using them tends to keep my over active cattle dog from crashing into me in fits of excitement!
